You guys are fun. I said yesterday that if Seabs had a problem with someone, that it was his responsibility to take care of it. That's what I meant by being a man. I did not say, that he was obliged to have a problem with it, or that it was wise to feel this way. Only that if he did, and wanted a piece of someone, that job shouldn't be farmed out to someone like Carcillo or Bollig. So sorry if I wasn't clear enough, but jeez.. you guys are quick to take offense to an opinion you might not like, and pretty uniform in maligning others. Nice. - DirkGraham
Did I malign you? Sorry. |

No one needs to be sorry. But I'm the one that said Seabrook taking care of his own matters was elemental to being a man. After that, the conversation seemed to turn to that sentiment being foolish... as it's being discussed again, today. My only assertion was that taking care of your own problems is more important than having someone else do it. In my old fashioned manner, that's part of being a man.
However, I did not assert that Seabs SHOULD feel the need to throw down or that it was wise.
I'm not offended by anyone's comments, just wanted to clarify.

Dirk ,I agree with you, but I think that if seab's didn't have an issue with it thats on him.
I think what some probably were thinking was that guy's like Bollig & carcillo are good team guys and ride shot gun for their mates. probably with the mind set "hey, seab's don't have a problem with what you did but I do!" to send a message back, that didn't go un noticed kid!
Hockey is still a contact sport and letting the players police the game theirselves is the best way to keep respect in the game! no matter what Pus sy's like Bettman think! & no I'm not talking about all out hooliganism, just a good little scrap every now & then to keep em honest when the situation presents itself. |

Great blog! Couldn't agree more with all of your sentiments. Something I noticed at the game was Hossa looking for Saad after the pass to Toews to tell him what a great pass he made. Clearly Hoss has a lot of respect for the youngster and that can't do anything but help #20's growth and maturation. And, Hoss knows he's helping to groom a guy who will eventually be looked at to replace him which speaks volumes of #81's character. Let's hope they keep this train rolling! - Baaaaaaannerman!
You had me right up to here. The whole Saad "replacing" Hossa narrative is really off—and shows a lack of appreciation for Hossa's talent and career. Also places an unfair expectation on Saad.

The kid has a looooooooooong way to go before anyone can suggest such a thing. I wouldn't be shocked if Hossa is wearing the Indian longer than Saad. |

I am not being argumentative or obtuse, but how do you feel about Mayers going after Torres, or should Hossa have handled that? |

No thanks. It's not that I don't want Gagner, I just don't want to give up Hjalmarsson. |

man, did I miss something here, whats all this talk about hammer & the oilers? he's still under contract to us & i wouldn't be too quick to deal him unless we got equal value back. & some 5'9 shrimp isn't equal value for a guy like hammer.

Gagne is up for renewal reportedly for 4M-5M. Too much for what he has to offer us. I would pass although Edmonton needs defence upgrade and could sweeten the offer or present us a signed (for a reasonable deal) Gagne. |

Hossa will not play forever. When he is done, there will be a need for a top line forward who can score and play a sound three zone game. Many players will, by necessity, be "looked at" to replace Hossa as a top line player on the Hawks, and Saad is simply one of them. Saad may never be Hossa or even Hossa-lite, but that doesn't change the fact he will be "looked at" to replace some of what Hossa brings when the time comes. I'm afraid you read more into my point about Hossa's extraordinary character than was intended. |

He really is a big wimp for not throwing down with that scrub on the Stars who fed him last month.
Picking up 2 points and damaging a teams playoff chance is OK, but I really needed to see Seabrook fight someone who doesn't matter at all. That rematch is all that really counted last night and Seabrook let us down. - AceRatbang
You are truly ignorant and must have been watching a different game. No 60 got in the game for one shift in the first period and immediately took a penalty for hiting Frolick. He did not see the ice again until the 3rd period when the game was over. Ace you show your ignorance daily |

Hossa is a world class player who may go down in history as one of the greats. Saad is a 20 year old kid who has incredible poise, skill and hockey sense at this stage in his career. Two different players who play SIMILAR games. Nobody is suggesting Saad is on track to replace one of the game's current greats. I'm sorry I wasn't clear enough in my point about HOSSA's character. |

Hjalmarsson has to sign the offer sheet and with his girlfriend being a model, Edm does not sound like an attractive location. I mean the money could be even staggering. But he will be offered a very nice deal here and elsewhere. I cannot picture the girlfriend modeling big fur parkas.....maybe they do that in Russia but it is probably someone named Boris and not a hot young girlfriend. - jhawk59
Yeah, this post is crap.
What offer sheet? The guy is under contract for next season. If you're talking "offer sheet" in regards to a trade, Hjalmarsson has no NTC or NMC to speak of.
Also, if Hjalmarsson is that concerned as to where he plays interfering with his girlfriend's career, perhaps he should hang up the skates and become a house husband? |
