Are the Capitals HOT or what!

They seem to be smokin' into the playoffs, and sure wouldn't want to face 'em.

>To me, 1-3-1 is the best formation
>PP unit #1: Hossa as the lone "point man" in the middle top
>Kane on lower right circle/boards
>Sharp (if healthy) on lower left circle/boards
>Toews in the high slot
>Bickel in front of the net (can also slide behind the net as passing outlet)
>PP unit #2:
>Leddy would be my #2 unit lone "point man"
>Stalberg on lower right circle/boards
>Seabrook on lower left circle/boards
>Saad in the high slot
>Shaw in front of the net (can also slide behind the net as passing outlet)
>Sharp & Seabrook can always slide "back" toward a traditional point option as needed under pressure on their respective PP units

If only...
the power play didn't now involve so much motion...

So this entire signing of the Hobey Baker mover and shaker was more about gettting a leg up on the competition and exciting the fan base, since he can't play THERE and he can't play HERE until next YERE...and that takes a second contract, LOL!

From the start I thought this was a mutual aggreement that was to feed off the vapors of the kids honors, and one where the Hawks did see something they liked that might help them.
I think the kid stayed with Toews, and that once he actually saw how fast things move at the NHL pace, he was taken back.

There seems to be concern at all the roadblocks involving this post-deadlibne signing, but from the start I figured the kid wanted to give the pro game a go, and he knows where he wants to play, so no biggee if he practices here, carries their bags to the plane, etc.

You think some team is gonna offer MORE than the hawks did in this Cap Hit?

It just proves there is always a reason to have Cap space...

I wish Leblanc the best of luck.

I thought LeBlanc's situation was the same as other frozen 4 ncaa free agents, except that he was a redshirt senior playing at 23yo. Sign now to secure negotiating rights going forward...LeBlanc will be an RFA in July.

Due to the NCAA tournament ending post TDL not one NCAA free agent can play in the post season after signing this year.

LeBlanc considered signing with the Hawks years ago but chose to go to College. Then the awful leg break delayed things even longer.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but LeBlanc could play in any of the remaining regular season games, just not in the post season.

Whether he can play at the NHL level or not...who knows, but we all should find out in the next year or so.

Are you certain the players are properly executing what's being "coached"?

Blaming the coaches is easy, I choose to place most of the blame of the players...since they're the ones who have actual control of puck. The Hawks PP has been awful for several years, so placing full blame on Kompon makes little sense.

The most I'll say is that Kompon hasn't "fixed" the broken PP he inherited.

- ArlingtonRob

I am with you AR...not coaching...it's personnel and they just don't have the right pieces together and/or the players continue to just be unable to execute.

Best 5 on 5 team on the league with subpar 5-4...I don't get it!!

I really never understood this Hart talk for Kane. He isn't even MVP of his own team.

You can make the argument for Crosby vs Toews. But if it is about 1 single players importance to his team - Toews wins it. Especially after the Pens deadline moves. Crosby is gone - they still win.

Without Toews - the Hawks would have real problems. Maybe that is Backes was so interested in hurting him Sunday.

Hart goes to ovi this year, no?

No playoffs but is an RFA and may be resigned if the 'Hawks want. He said he expects not to play. Practices will probably be ow he is judged.

That is correct. Would not be surprised to see him in one of those non-playoff implication games: Preds, Oil or Flames.

A friend of mine suggested the Hawks should take an equalizer each time a penalty is called to make it 4 on 4 hockey.

Makes sense to me...

Well, the Hawks have the best record in the league, are by far the best 5 on 5 team, near the top on the PK, have the best goal tending duo, so the coaching must be great!

I expect the Hawks to sign him to a short contract, perhaps 2 years, before he becomes an RFA. They seem to have been interested in him for years and Norm MacIver is a family friend as well.

I don't know much about LeBlanc. I do think you're correct with the highlighted. My gut feeling tells me he'll be in Rockford next year.

You're right. He was invited to at least one of the Hawk's camps, maybe 2 of them. So I don't see a problem with him signing next year. I don't like anaheim getting that Yale free agent, though.

no...they don't have point guys who get it on net other than Leddy....they don't have a guy(s) who have skill and the will to set screens and the stick/hands for tips. Shaw comes close but he is small for that job and just gets beat on. Bicks...ah no! Stals does not know what to do as far as screening. Not coaching...its personell

Sure coaching has roll to play but blame it all on the coaches??
