Homer's see has to be warm but not hot yet to the point of he needs to go.

Personally I feel unless he has a chance to select Barkov or Monahan at the forward spot who can both come in probably now and contribute the rest will need time to develop & round out their games in their respective junior leagues with the possibility of AHL.

So nobody here should be expecting whomever they select to jump in and help now because it's not a likely scenario.

based on what i've read, i think barkov's game would add a little something different to the mix that we could use here. of course, i've never seen anything more than highlights of any of these guys.

I think he means they still have to pay him the 2/3rds due or whatever it is, when he says he remains on the payroll.

His $ come off their cap for certain.

I took it as he means they have his cap hit which would be wrong.

Doesn't matter it's a path they need to go, the direction of the league is forcing them this way, I'm sure they'll fight going in it but they should embrace it.

I thought they showed restraint at the trading deadline.
Good start, let's see how they do over the summer.

I've only seen Monahan & Jordan Subban personally and that was over a year ago. So I'm partial to him but would still take Barkov over Monahan.

Viewing footage isn't the worst thing but watching full games does help see any issues they player may have.

I agree, now they need to continue it and maybe even go further with it.

barkov is more physically mature and he doesn't have typical russian plyr signing issues. i thinks he's half finnish and he's plying in that league.

Only issue I see is checking into his shoulder surgery & the estimated 5 month recovery time.

Father from Russia, born and raised in Finland and plays for Finland. So there should be no issues there.

Holmgren just confirmed what we all knew: Laughton is not long for this team/league. He said most of the rest will be here next year.

Not earth shattering news. This is just more seasoning for him.

Not trying to troll here, just genuinely curious what the reaction in Philly's been like re:Bobrovsky being given away last summer. This appears to be GM malpractice but in not sure how much rope Homer has in Philly.

The team had too many injuries I dont see why they would even consider taking a chance at the deadline. This team was not a legit contender therefore making the decision easy for Holmgren.

If they are picking at 4 or 5, and he's there, they can't pass him up for Nurse or Ristolainen.

Holmgren overpaid for Bryzgalov and had to ship Bob out since he wouldn't have gotten any playing time here. It hurts but hopefully Mason makes you guys feel the same thing this time next year for us.

After the coach buried him after one bad period in the 2011 playoffs, the owner demanded that the GM get a goalie. They signed Bryzgalov to a 9 year deal, and the meant that Bobrovsky was going to get traded.

The person least to blame might be the GM in the case of Bobrovsky leaving Philadelphia

With Bryz's contract Bob was never going to get the playing time he needed. He was pretty much still unproven when traded as a bonified starter. Though more than a few here thought the way they handled Bob in the playoffs when he was a rookie was wrong. And many of us would have been happy moving ahead with Bob as the starter and getting a decent veteran to back him up.

But alas they signed Bryz, and the rest was the rest.

That's pretty smallish down the middle and weak on FO's. It's especially so compared to what we had under the Clarke years with Lindros and Primeau eras.

They are all young and have plenty of time to get better.
