and I don't disagree with that however that answers the question right there as to whether Henrik is THE best in the world, which is precisely what I said was overboard. - keaner17
As much as it pains me to say it, over the last 5 years no one even comes close to Hank, he is the best at his position in the world.

Do not want to jump into this but in my opinion, Hank has been very good at his position but not the best. his greatest achievement came last year when the Rags reached the conference finals. besides that, he been fortunate to have defenders lead the league in block shots, or have the players who do. He's a product of Torts system. |

He was lights out awesome for three & 1/2 years before Torts even became his coach

I'm with you. I would say he is easily top 3 if not the best in the league |

No one has stolen more games for his team over the last five years- that's what I look at....the games you watch where you say if it wasn't for him, they would have been f***ed, and yet they skated off the ice with two points. He pretty much nearly got them to the playoffs all by himself in his first few years in the league, and those teams couldn't play at all, never mind blocking any shots, or playing any "system". |

...and I think OUR goalie is better than Ryan Miller, in more ways than one...for one thing, I don't want any of the kind of cr*p Milbury used to bring into our locker room f***ing up the vibe. |

I understand that, and he has been really good, has he won the Veniza before last year?
Hank is known for being a really good goalie during the season, but hasn't lifted his team/choked in playoffs, if my memory is correct.
which leads me to say, Hank is good, but not the best.... |

We're sort of changing the premise of my disputing the Lundqvist comment. It wasn't about the last five years but rather who the best is now. For my money it's Rinne, who night in and night out steals games despite no support. The guy is unreal. Then I'd have to say Craig Anderson could be worthy of consideration. His numbers speak for themself. I think Henrik deserves consideration but is certainly not clear cut. |

If there was one thing isles could have better in this game was to shoot the puck more on pp. The few that we had. Aside from that they were excellent. They outplayed rags in every part of the game however a nice pass by brassard to giradi ended it.
The refs really screwed us bad in that game. The missed calls, calling jt for shoving player holding his stick, calling MacDonald for checking to hard, then weak call on ko at end of game in a 0-0.
I thought we played awesome. Keep that up and we will easily make the playoffs.
In Postgame, John gionne , Ron duggey and danekyo all said rangers should feel lucky they walked away with 2 points as they were completely outplayed by isles |

I have to be alittle Garth snowy here. I like my team right now. Everyone including boyes has elevated their games. Surprisingly moulson is only one still lacking same intensity of rest of the teams.
If there is something we need its a upgrade on defense. Streit is likely gone. So we need two upgrades on back line. Also a good backup wouldn't hurt either.
Does anyone know what is going to with Tim Thomas? How great would it be if he announce he would play. |

Brad Boyes needs to catch the first bus out of here when this season is over, I don't care how well the team is playing. That has been one of our more ineffective lines lately. Moulson has been dragging ass as well. Time to find some real wingers for JT. If that line was firing on all cylinders right now we'd be even more formidable than we already are. Giving moulson time to turn it around is understandable the guy has proven to be effective but with Boyes it's def time to move on. One of snows priorities this off-season should be to find a winger for JT. |

After last week's TAM win I looked at the sched, PHA, BOS and NYR and felt getting 3 or 4 pts would be optimistic, but we got 5. A post Ranger win often causes a letdown but they should be pissed which should carrover into to the last 6 games.
Even though BUF is winning they are going to run out of games, but we need to outplay WIN who also have 6 games left but they have more Reg-OT wins, so we can't tie them. If they go 6-0, we need to be at 4-1-1 or better. |

For the first time in years I have confidence in this team. These spoiler teams are a concern we all know how they play when there's nothing at stake we've been that team all to often but I feel we are going to be where we need to be when the chips fall. If we stay as the seventh seed I think we are good. A first rd match up with Montreal would be fine with me. |

I wouldn't mind Tim Thomas here, as long as we do not have to give up anything significant for signing him, " I don't remember the trade, but if Thomas signed with Isles, we would have to give the Bruins a pick/picks? " Which depends on what has to be given up.
Streit needs to go so JT can be the next captain, Boyes also, he is doing his job for the $$$$ he is making, but this team has a ton of cap space for next year, and we need a legit W for JT, a 2nd line C, and 2 D-men. I don't mind the kids, but would rather have them jell together for 1 more year in Bridgeport.
And this team needs to know who their future goalie will be... We can not expect Nabby to be great when he is getting older. |

Wouldn't mind being a 6th or 7th seed, but im crazy for saying this, but Isles have nothing to lose, and only to gain, I WANT PITT........
I rather shock the hockey gods, and eliminate those pansies.....
If they are suppose to be a cup contender, then playing them helps the development of the players of what/who they need to compete against in the future |

Streit needs to be resigned!!!
We don't have a replacement for him.
He will be the most sought after guy on the free agency market!!! |

Hickey, Strait, Donovan are all good choices to replace Streit. Plus u never know who/what might be available in off-season.
Since we have Viz signed, Streit can go, he is on a decline, and not worth the $$$ he probably will be seeking.
We gave Streit his opportunity, now we need to do the same with someone else. We will not know what we have unless there is an open spot. Streit is not getting younger, and is looking for a 3yr deal, I just dont think hes worth it... |
