And that's different how?
KGB we're good. Anyone who seriously follows this team and isn't trolling is gonna see this as a pathetic attempt to increase bad journalism ratings who cover a struggling team. Bryz could show up to game with a baby blanket and I'd be cool with it if he could stop breakaways!
Just refer them back to Knuble's comments...

We're good? This team probably can't even beat the Phantoms at the moment.

The players play a large role, but I agree, management put this team in this position.
- funmaster18

(just a sample)

Management, and Snider have developed a trend of no identity, no continous direction, and added far too many players who came here with questionable defensive/consistent games to begin with.

Player evaluation, at its most basic levels, and how players fit into the grand scheme of things, is this something this organization lacks imo. Its frustrating to me anyway.

I thought the Phantoms were down to cardboard cut-outs and the kids we just drafted...

And yep, lots of issues, but none of them insurmountable. I'm curious to see what Homer does. I'm curious to see how they finish the season. I'd like to see them have some heart. Lots of lower line players playing for their jobs literally... I won't stop watching cuz we've just about been eliminated. Sure last night's game was disgraceful, but if the other teams snicker at us it'll be because we can't connect a pass not whether or not our goalie is a narcoleptic...

His questionable defensive game has been an anchor around this franchise for years.

As opposed to who? Having Timonen wear the C doesn't change this teams record, nor does it make Timonen more or less vocal. (frank), give it too Knuble he is the best interview. Unless you're a terrible journalist, then you go with Bryz, he's good for one contextual mishap per question.

Giroux and Richards aren't comparable, IMO. As players obv, and even personalities. Giroux wears his emotions on his sleeve more. He will come back next year with a fire in his belly.

- GirouxForTheShow

After watching the Richards situation, what is the harm in giving the C to Timonen or Briere and not throwing it on Giroux so quickly.

No its the organization's trend to go after, or do something so "shiny".

Its a moot point, but there was no need to add the responsability on to a kid who at his age is supposed to be the saviour of the franchise.

Of course his clutch goals have lifted us as well...
Briere has been very good and only slightly bad for us...
It is time for him to move on, but I will miss him.

Puck handling skills are night and day different. Have yet to see Mason try a poke check but his ability to capture a puck behind the net and clear or pass on his own is light years ahead of Bryz.
That said he wasn't a miracle maker. So when our D got exposed it usually went into our net. With the exception of Mason stopping more than one breakway...
Mason could use some work on rebound control. Of course your D sliding into the puck and through the crease to put it into net doesn't help your numbers much

Of course we've only had 4 periods of play to evaluate Mason but he's not the second coming. He does some things better some things worse.

- FlyersGrace

sounds like mason is solid for what me makes then

- Marc D

Yes, I'll watch just like I showed up to all the home games in 2007. I'll wade through all the questions by non Flyers fans, I'll swallow hard and hope for a good draft and a severe uptick in success next season.

K, I'm sure it was more intense being there. But in the first period was your heart in your shoes? I thought they played a fairly good first period, and then they crumbled. Maybe I'm naive but I think those flashes of brilliance can be sustained. Just not this season.
And get used to NYI fans trolling, they are getting better and better...

That explosive speed hasnt been there which is unfortunate.

At the same time what do you expect?

Put him on a wing where he has chronically struggled. Put him with Giroux? Hmm 2 guys with questionable defensive games to begin with. Put him with Schenn or Simmonds? Hmmm same thing. Put him with Coots? Well then you have him on the wing where he has shown he struggles time and time again.

What exactly did management expect to happen? Or did they just put together a bunch of pieces and tell Lava to make it work.

The problem with mason starting is the beat writers didn't have any material for the next day. Hard to blame a goalie that isn't playing. And so the Bryz falling asleep nonsense begins. I knew the find away.

The flyers lost at practice today because Bryz fell asleep. Wonderful.

I hope so, I certainly hope so.
He's a better back up than what we had. I can say that definitively. Will he wrestle into the top spot next season? Who knows?

This response feels familiar to me, as well.

Right now, I'm taking heart with guys like Cousins, Laughton, and Alt playing in Adirondack.

He's playing on one foot right now, and still is their best two-way defenseman. But yes, his lack of mobility was very obvious last night.
- bmeltzer

but why he did he have to wrap both arms around Tavares on the boards like that?
