You should make a sign that reads: Mason Builds Stone Walls!

And then yell to Lavi: try not to (frank) this goalie up!

My personal feeling is that the Flyers should play to the level of where the Goalie doesn't need to steal the game. If they have any prayer of making the playoffs. I don't know that a Goalie not stealing games is a reason not to play him. We also don't know what Mason is going to do in a game.

Don't take this the wrong way but what will you be wearing? I want to know who you are!
- FlyersGrace

I don't know if Laviolette will feel comfortable answering that.

The pre-Lindros Flyers teams?
- johndewar

I checked it out because even as an Isles fan I can't remember. It looks like you have to go back to the Spring of 2002 when the Isles finished 1pt behind the Flyers for the division. Pretty sad it has been so long....

I still think he can come back. its the smart move to shut it down this season. so much doom and gloom

If they need veteran leadership, I can think of a guy who would bring a good deal of veteran leadership and experience as well as a good attitude to the locker room who's currently on the Flyers. That's right; Jody Shelley.

It will be Mason's first start since March 29, and just his second since March 1.

Actually my point was the complete opposite. That is, the fact that Bryz isn't stealing games is why going with Mason probably won't have any negative impact.
- FlyerGuy

Yes but Bryzgalov isn't falling completely apart either... something Mason is able and prone to do. And in order to build Mason's confidence moving forward we are going to have to let him work through those games. We can't afford to try that right now. Were it to happend it would end our playoff hopes and probably have a negative effect on Mason. I've watched Columbus games in the past where Mason made modern day Leighton seem like a Goalie Savant. Why do you think Columbus was okay trading him for Leights? I say let Bryz go until we are Mathematically out and then start Mason.

You think so? When was his concussion? A few months ago, right? Pretty scary that he's still having bad headaches, and could only skate for fifteen minutes.

Sometimes you just have to shut a guy down. Crosby was out for almost a whole season's worth of games over a 2-year span, and until he took that puck to the face, he was playing better than ever. Obviously not the same player, and yes, MAB plays a more physical game, but you just have to try to be smart about it and trust that the player's body will let him know when he's ready.

Kinda stunned they are putting Mason in there.

I like the move, but I'm stunned they aren't gonna ride Bryz into the ground until they are truly mathematically out of it.

Good stuff!

I had to look up who was on those Isles teams.

That team had some pretty good names who had could score at that time: Alexei Yashin, Marius Czerkawski, Mark Parrish. I had forgotten that Mike Peca even played on Long Island.

Any of you think they offer Huskins a contract for next year?

What about Gagne? I swear in some games recently he looks like one of their best skaters.

I'm even wondering about Fedetenko lately. He seemed likely to leave at the deadline but his line has been getting some points lately.
He has been OK for the PK and solid defensively.

i'd keep all 3

i'm not. he apparently played well in relief. they got him for a reason, and maybe lava is doing this as an equivalent to pulling the starting goalie in a game - to wake the team up because poop is on the line.

let it roll....
