I saw a lot to like. Rebound control was a bit of an issue, in terms of overall play. Puck handling is definitely a plus. Seemed to move well for a big body
- Jsaquella

pucks seemed to be skittering away from him a lot where he tried to cover it and couldn't. it didn't turn into any goals against, and i liked that he didn't put any big/bad rebounds out. sometimes the puck just doesn't settle in front of you.

Giroux shouldn't be captain he wasn't ready for it and still isn't kimo should have the C
give Giroux an A let him learn from someone who has been a captain

- flyer186

Does Timonen need to wear the C to teach Giroux how to be a captain?

Giroux has an excuse, he's learning. Most of the veteran leadership was invisible this year.

Welp, certainly should start Mason the rest of the way. I like his ability within the trapezoid, looks like he can help this team clear the defensive zone.

As far as the Viagara line, I'd only be interested in resigning one of the vets. Ideally, my 4th line would be Talbot and Hall with one of the three old guys on there next year.

- ravishingone

Wouldn't mind this next year ... and spending the money saved on Defense.

FORWARDS
Scott Hartnell / Claude Giroux / Jakub Voracek
Brayden Schenn / Sean Couturier / Wayne Simmonds
Maxime Talbot / Scott Laughton / Matt Read
Tye McGinn / Nick Cousins / Zac Rinaldo

A couple of times when Bryz opened the gate, it wasn't wide enough.

Turrible.

- johndewar

to be fair, he hasn't worked the gate much at all.

Yep.

Not worried about Giroux at all, really. Get him some help.

Agreed on Giroux.

If you're going to give Brayden Schenn top-6 minutes, he should have to earn it.

- johndewar

Well if were going to go by those standards, we might not have enough players to play in the top 6. Brayden Schenn was 9th among Flyers forwards in icetime tonight.

Yeah, there weren't any that were kicked right out front into the slot or that he couldn't recover from. I know he's had issues with it in the past, and all things considered it was a minor issue/criticism

He wasn't lousy, he just didn't take over games like he did last season. It's a step back. I have little doubt that he'll use this year as motivation in the future.
- Jsaquella

he's put up some points...but imo i think he's been bad.

I don't think it's an awful idea, the thing is you are a few injuries away from really having trouble scoring.

I like your idea, but I think Cousins will probably split time with McGinn on the fourth line with Hall on the 4th line. What Coots with top six minutes?

I'm assuming Lava isn't going to be coach. They're going to have a significant chunk of salary invested in the d core especially with Pronger and possbily Mez being out for a while. I would be suprised if Coots, B. Schenn, and Laughton are all on the roster, only because one of those guys I believe will be traded for blueline help.

How much did the fight have to do with that?

Brayden Schenn's gonna be a good hockey player. He's not there yet. He's just not and Holmgren has to figure out if Brayden Schenn can be the 2nd line center on this team next year.

Hartnell has had a really poor year.

they're having trouble with that already. not sure you can count on maturing players for more scoring a second year inn a row. tough off season to make a lot of additions.

Pointless now they aren't going to strip him of it. This is good for him as a captain I would say though. He is a hungry player, he has a ton of fire. So going through this half season struggling with consistency is only gonna make him better in the long run.

I know. The crop of UFA's is enough to make a Billy Goat puke. Things may get worse before they get better.

Seriously? You posted that Jsaq forgot that they traded for Nabakov's rights. So that means that Bryzgalov wasn't the Flyers first choice. So two points. How do you know that the Flyers wanted Nabakov for the long term? And not just for one year? Second, how can you say that Bryzgalov wasn't their first choice, when Nabakov and Bryzgalov weren't both available in the same year? If they were, you might have a point. But obviously, as was stated before by Jasq, in the 2011 Off Season, Bryzgalov was the Flyers first choice.

Can't blame them.

They got a good young team. Tavares and Moulson are really good.
