And sit behind Markstrom?
- bradleyc4

Yes.

In a deck chair.

Wearing his speedo.

Holding a drink with a little umbrella in it.

If the Canucks hand him a cheque for $27,000,000, he's going to go into semi-retirement.

He just has to make sure his arm that opens and closes the bench door is in good shape!

After his press conference where he said his contract sucks and he just wants to play?

I'm just thinking about this now - as a GM, wouldn't you be a little worried about signing a guy who has just been given such a huge payday?

Would the fires still be burning within Luongo?

He's 34 now - you'd have to figure he no longer has a desire to play until he is 40. Maybe 3 or 4 more years, and then pack it in.

I don't actually know anything about his competitive nature, but I'm willing to go out on a limb and say in general, human nature would lead us to conclude it will be harder for him to push himself to the limits for off-season conditioning, etc.

But he hasn't been handed a cheque for $27,000,000 yet.

Is Mason gonna go with his Columbus gear still or did he get some new Flyers gear already? (just curious).

Bourdon actually had THREE concussions in one year, not two. He started game one of the Flyers-Penguins series, left the game early with an upper-body injury and never so much as practiced again during the playoffs.
- bmeltzer

Not good. I'm guessing he never fully recovered from the second (or maybe the first), therefore the 3rd was a foregone conclusion. And who knows how many concussions he's had prior to his call up? Chances are very good a lot of hockey players get their skulls cracked for the first time as little kids.

I got my first concussion from a friend hitting me in the head with a baseball bat.

He is already going to get paid the $40-$50 million still owed to him regardless.

He didn't have any new gear at the game on Saturday, not sure if he's been wearing new orange gear in practice yet or not.

Why the hell would do that when they could get an asset of some kind for him and not pay a dime? Makes zero sense.
- Cptmjl

Who is giving them an asset for Luongo's awful contract? It won't be Tampa Bay or Florida. They already have goalies.

mason is only the 2nd lefty in flyers history behind stephane beauragauruauauruard.
well, maybe techincally 3rd - i think sebastion caron was signed at the end of the year a couple of years ago, post trade deadline just to get to the end of the season..but i don't recall him playing.

none of this has anything to do with your post. i lack self discipline.

Literally going to give up a goal on a shot from the American mid-west.

So after failing to get the big money goalie they wanted in free agency and settling for their second choice in Bryzgalof they fail to get Bishop at the trade deadline and settle for mason and replace their second choice with their second choice for their last gasp game in NY.

Good times... good times.

I'm feeling optimistic though, not really sure why
