And why do that? We didn't get rid of Bob because we didn't like him... and he didn't leave because he disliked Philly. He was traded because Holmgren realized that Bobrovsky NEEDED starter minutes or atleast greater minutes than he was getting in Philly. We couldn't offer him the right minutes with a starter already battened down for the next few seasons. He also, at that point, despite some brilliant saves and good games, had not proven himself above Bryzgalov at that point. As a Flyer last season, Bryz had a 2.48 GAA and a .909 SV%. Bob had a 3.02 GAA and a .899 SV%. We traded Bob because it didn't make sense to keep him, it didn't make sense to make him our starter, and wasn't fair to him for his career to keep him locked as a 20 game/season backup. Homer traded him out of respect. The move wasn't wrong, I just think the return was wrong. The Jackets got him for nothing both draft picks. Would've liked to see a player in return.

I think you'll be surprised at the Flyer fan responses. Most of us wish Bob all the best. And I hope he does bring the Vezina home (although I doubt he will). Would I have liked to have kept him? Sure. But he needed the start time and the chance in a new area. I'm glad he's proving himself cuz most Flyers fans loved watching him play (many such as myself still do). One of the only things I like about the new division split is that the Blue Jackets move into our division so we can see him more often.

I don't think there's ever been a Vezina winner who wasn't top 5 in at least two statistical categories between wins, SV%, GAA, SO's.

that said, I would nominate him at this stage of the season, but I don't see how he would beat out the other two nominees, Rask and Lundqvist.

Why not? If he's having a Vezina-worthy season, then he should be in the discussion. This is like people who thought Flyers' fans were bitter about LA winning the Cup last year. Aside from some media people, most Flyers fans were happy to see Richards, Carter, and Gagne win a Cup, even if it wasn't in Philly. If a guy gives his all here and is rewarded after moving on, most are civil enough to be happy for him, although with a small amount of bitter mixed in.

As for the people making the oh-so-original Bryzgalov jokes, he hasn't lived up to expectations or salary, but his play is partially based on performance, but more so on workload coupled with disastrous overall team defense. I think most Flyers fans would agree with that.

Edit: Also, the blame for trading Bobrovsky should fall squarely onto the shoulders of Michael "The Liar" Leighton.

Anyone who says Lundqvist shouldn't at least get a nomination is either a liar or a hypocrite (or they don't follow hockey). I'm not sure about Bruins fans, but I know that Red Sox fans fit into both of these categories, so....
