I see a lot of points regarding us having cap room to go after free agents this summer.....problem is there are like zero stud free agents out there
Only name I would consider totally worth going after would be Clarkson from New Jersey but we'd have to severely overpay for a guy having a career year.
We picked a bad year to totally scrap everything and rebuild. If there were a lot of free agents available this could have been an extremely quick re tool process...but its going to take longer now. - HAMgerber
I thought about this earlier....it sucks....could've been getz and perry...

I wonder if she still has it or sold it. I know she sold a kiss something but not exactly what. Whatever it was she got $100 for it. Apparently didn't want me to know. I'll have to ask her. - sippyd
I am sure this was discussed ad nauseam when I was not here, but what is the general consensus on what we got in the trade for TJ Brennan? I thought we did not get enough.
I just wanted to say that I love the trades that Darcy made this year and last year. The guy is honestly great and squeezing the most he can from his players in trades for sure. He is really good at making trades but poor at making lineups.
As far as Miller and Vanek I really do not see them trading either one of them. I can totally see them offering Vanek and Miller both new contract extensions next year for 4 years a piece for under what there making already per year but not by much and mostly front loaded. The only way I can see them trading either one of these guys is if they get the idea that they do not want to resign here and if that is the case they won't be traded until next years trade deadline. And even if they wait until then they will still get great returns for both since teams are more desperate and are generally willing to give up more at the deadline then during the summer.
Stafford I do not care for because of the fact he half ass's it half of the time and floats around the ice. When the guy want's to play and puts that effort forward he dominates play as we have all seen. The fact that he did not get traded yet might actually benefit us in the long term. I also do not see him traded during the summer since the return would be less. Let's say Stafford even plays remotely well next year and scores on a descent basis, his value will certainly increase by the deadline as well as a player who will have 1 year left on his deal at a ok price kind of like Pommer this year.
Now we should have around 17 mill roughly in cap space come July 1st . We can certainly get a really good player and someone descent. There is no way they overspend this year when they will have to resign a couple of our own younger guys soon after who will command more then they are currently getting payed.

I don't know, we'll see. I wasn't really talking about max contract-type players either. I think there will be some buyouts. I also see some teams not re-signing players. There could be some out there that are good players.

There really aren't many guys available that I'd want
I'd rather guys like McNabb, Grigorenko & Armia make the team - jdfitz77
They will sign a guy like Fedotenko or a 3rd 4th line vet and maybe a defenseman. I bet they try to hit a home run in 14' when there are a boat load of FA
go to the Minnesota Wild website.....before you can get in the website, there is a big picture of Pommer...lol.....with an option to place money on playoff tix to guarentee stanley cup tix

Agreed. Was mad at the trade. we are playing an expiring contract in Pardy instead of letting Brennan play

We have 2 critical RFA's - Hodgson and Weber. Hodgson I see getting near a 5M cap hit and Weber getting 1.5-2M.

Writing is on the wall for Miller IMO. He'll be moved during the draft.
Just an IMO that Vanek is the only one that might be resigned and that is only if they can convince him the rebuild will be short.

I think it was a knee jerk, 'lets just do something for the sake of doing it' type move just to 'shake it up'... I think he was the 'easiest' to trade/ didn't mean that much to the team...i Think it was a bad trade, but not one that we will necisarilly regret...

Enroth as well will get a small increase i'm sure. But yes that was what I was eluding too. This year's fa crop is very very weak and mostly filled with ageing over payed vets for the most part. I can see Hodgson getting a 5 year deal for about Derek Roy money around 4-4.5 per. And as you said Weber should get about 2 mill per.

Go max length and see if you can get him for 5 mil per.
His Dad/agent is going to be a bear to deal with this summer IMO.
As of now his prorated stats over an 82 game season are
