Did you graduate from "pull statements out of my ass to support my argument" High School? I can figure you're not a college grad.

We gave up a 2015 3rd rd pick for him. He's 24 and an RFA this summer. As long as Holmgren doesn't outbid himself again, it's a solid move. Maybe, like Bob, he just needs a change of scenery. Bob had flashes of greatness. This guy had a whole season of it.
- phillydentist

The thing is you had Bobrovksy who didnt need a change of scenery. He was thrown into the fire, because the Flyers had nothing better. When he started to show his age, and lack of experience in the NHL and pressure of Philadelphia he somewhat crumbled.

I see this Mason/Bobrovsky thing as a lateral move for now but honestly why not just keep Bobrovsky in the first place? Mason will probably cost them 2 million.

Actually it was a Vo-Tech.

One thing I learned was to own up to a mistake. Yep, I pulled Brian Roberts' salary out of my ass.

However, you doubling down on the assertion that the hockey team's salary drives the cable bills is really hilarious

Bob needed the change of scenery because he wasn't going to get playing time here with Bryzgalov needing to play 9 out of every 10 games.

I didn't like getting rid of Bob but they kind of had to do it once they married Space Man.

When it was first announced, people(like me) looked at Mason being a pending RFA and figured that with the qualifying offer, he'd be making $3.2mm+ and that there's no way they could spend $9mm on goalies with a reduced cap.

Then Mason and Holmgren both mentioned that the player's agent and GM had discussed things and Holmgren expects to sign Mason prior to offering him the QO.

A lot depends on what Mason signs for. If he gets $1.5-$2mm, I'd guess Bryz isn't getting bought out. More than that...maybe.

I think he would get around 2 million. Which I suppose to a degree I would be okay with. You have a young kid that can regain the elite form he showed when entering the league.

If the Flyers expect him to be a starter off the bat. Ohhh boy.

Personally I was one of those that was in favour of buying out Bryzgalov. I will be the first to admit though that he has been much more consistent this season, even with a poop save %. I'm not sold, but I would give him one more year.

I'll give you the first month or so Bryz was the Flyers best player but he's been consistently mediocre since then.

It's hard to really judge him behind the shambles this team has been.

I'd still wait on a buyout. I worry about the cap recapture, as well as everyone else's cable bill, as much as performance level.

As for Mason, would he get $2mm as a UFA? I really think that would be the drum the Flyers would beat in a prolonged contract talk. Without the complete data, it's only guesswork at what the Flyers will do.

I dont like all this poop to be honest.

There is no harm in keeping Bobrovsky, even for 2 million and really grooming him. Even with Bryzgalov in the fold. Boston did the same with Rask. You are now going to have the same situation with Mason financially but you are bringing a guy into Philly who pretty much seems to have every bit of his confidence shot.

Its minor, and I dont mind. However I get a weird vibe that this is more of random much, without much direction or long term planning.

Well, when you're giving your best and it isn't enough because the rest of the team gives rarely gives you more than 2 goals of support, it can cause confidence issues. Much like the goalie supposedly causes confidence issues in 18 others every year.

Not really. If you read back far enough, he was the one that started with the "moron", "dumb" name calling. He was exposed and started with the personal attacks. I'm not about to give in to a HS graduate.

Ive been female doging about this team's inconsistency for a while now.

Bryzgalov has been ridden into the ground this season. He has been one of the most consistent Flyers all season.

Has he been good enough? Probably not, but I wouldnt be placing my hope on Steve Mason as an immediate replacement.

@NYDNRangers: Brassard, Moore, Dorsett & Steve Mason all were sitting in same Columbus apartment when they were informed via phone call they were traded.

I believe they call that apartment the Jeff Carter suite in C-Bus.

I wonder if they go after a cheaper veteran goalie (Emery, Backstrom, etc.) to pair with Mason. Read almost has to be a lock to be resigned at this point. Certainly money will be spent on defense. Finally, long-term G is probably going to be an $8 million/yr cap hit. He has to get as much as Getzlaf, doesn't he?

Neither would I. I personally don't think that the Flyers are going to buyout Bryzgalov this year. But that being said, doesn't mean it's not a possibility.
