If Homer is able to get Mason to sign at number that makes sense for a back up, he has fixed a big need for the team.

Also he picked up a 4th line center with a winning face off percentage, another need.

He didn't get rid of any first or second round picks, and he kept all his young core (for now).

He still has a ton of work to do to fix the top end of the defense, which is the hardest part, but today was not the right day to do it.

Also I imagine the decision with Lavi is going to be tough.

But all in all today was quietly successful, especially if they have something worked out with Mason on a new deal at a manageable cap hit.

I'm pretty happy, overall.

I'd actually say this is a pretty fair evaluation.

Think about it. Nothing stupid happened. We didn't gamble away parts like we have in the past.

Mason, I'm almost sure of it, WILL sign at a VERY reasonable price. He and his agent both know trying to get the same money or comparable to what Columbus was paying him, is not a realistic option given his play. I honestly think, like we saw in the Luongo interview today, just wants to play and prove himself again. IF this is the case, we actually did very well today.

sounds like he spoke w/ mason's agent and received assurances that they'll make an exception in negotiations...that or homer just squandered an asset because mason stinks right now. he needs a total makeover.

hall was a no brainer.

We all know Homer has a great track record with goalies, and I have no doubt that this will turn out splendid.

would have been nice to grab another body like Matt Calvert in this deal.
If Homer can negotiate a 1.5m two-yr contract for Mason its prob an upgrade over most other backup options.

Although I would have liked to see a trade with the Jets involving big Buff plus Al Montoya....

I thank God the Flyers haven't acquired Byfuglein. I want no parts of him in a Flyers uniform.

The only really burning question I have is what would have happened today with Briere if he wasn't hurt.

We will never know now.

Don't know Hall all that well. If he is good, then why has he been on waivers so much of late?

Also, Reese did a great job re making Leighton into a solid tender..Let's hope he can do the same with a younger tender with more talent and pedigree.. I really liek the acquisition if he can be re signed at a reasonable rate.

I think he wouldn't have waived his NMC for family... he will get bought out in the offseason.. just doesn't fit and we can't afford.. I like Danny a lot too..
