It's because, as Seravelli pointed out, Couts has peaked and is already in decline at 20... Seriously, he's probably a year or 2 from retirement. Have you seen those teeth? How much more hockey do you think they can take?

Probably, but it looks as though if the Flyers want to upgrade the D they are going to most likely have to part with Couturier, the free agent market for defenseman isn't looking to great for this summer. With Laughton and Cousins possibly making the team next season I think they can part with Couts if they can get a good young defenseman back

guess its need for need. Sens have a spare goalie and need some offense and tampa felt they needed another goalie and scoring is not an issue for them

I believe this is a win for Ottawa...Conacher shown flashes of being a really nice player and Bishop was an extra goalie in Ottawa with Anderson and Lehner up there...good deal for Ottawa IMO

It's an overpayment because Ottawa fills a big need and trades a guy who was going to be their third goalie. Yzerman's goalie choices thus far have made Clarke look like Sam Pollock
