why not look at kane, dushene, or ryan all affordable 30 goal scorers
- Flyers4Life88

Do you mean Evander Kane?

Easily one of my favorite non-Flyers. Would love to have him, but I don't think Winnipeg would give him up.

That's not even close to a position of weakness, in my opinion. We'd be in a position of weakness if we had no choice but to make this kind of trade. As it stands, I don't think the Flyers are under any pressure at all to pick up a Yandle. It's not like we're trying to round out a cup contender here.
- BulliesPhan87

Yeah but were in desperate need of something and they know that, which puts us in a position of weakness. If nothing happens we still have MAJOR defensive problems...never mind this year when it comes this negotiation they have the asset we want and they will try to exploit that which put us at a position of weakness in this negotiation

Which trade is worse:
Harry Z for Rosehill
-or-
Paradis for Gotovets

I'm thinking TB got swindled on that one.

You're right, might as well just put Coots, Schenn, and Hartnell on a bus to Phoenix right now. What other choice do we have really?

The Flyers didn't get swindled making the deal for Rosehill since they gave up nothing. It's just an ass backwards, reactionary type deal that makes zero sense.

If Giroux takes a big hit tonight, Rosehill will descend from the rafters like the Blue Blazer and inflict justice upon any wrong doers.

I like Ben Bishop, but I can't help but think he's also a huge product of the Senators system. I mean, all 3 goalies stats are insane. Craig Anderson's stats are unreal. Lehner is a great prospect I'd love to get my hands on so I'm not surprised by his stats, but when you have 3 goalies with stats like those, it makes ya think more along the lines of a team's defense than unbelievable goaltending skill.

Off the wall question, which trade would you make:
2nd+prospect for Bishop (rumored price)
Couturier+ for Lehner+ (made up, not sure what pieces are needed to make it work, but for arguments sake basically comparing Couts to Lehner)
Neither

A position of weakness requires pressure, a ticking clock element, to exist. That's not there for us. We can carrey our problem into the offseason with no issue whatsoever. Furthermore, our problem isn't just a gap at the blueline, it's an inability to lock down defensively. Trading a defensive center in Couturier for a non-defensive defenseman in Yandle would increase that problem.

On the flip side, if nothing happens they still lack a top center. We have the kind of assert they want. There's simply no position of weakness for the Flyers here. It all comes down to the fact that we can easily walk away. Having a need at the blueline doesn'tinherently imply a position of weakness, only that there's logically a deal to be made. Nothing more, nothing less.

Anyone heard anything about what the asking price was rumored to be for McBain?
Flyers should be all over that if a reasonable deal can be made.

Also reading through the thread I saw Kulikov's name mentioned.
Is he supposedly available?
Another one they should be all over.

Sounds like the Flyers could have had Yandle at the draft my guess it was JVR for Yandle...They obviously went with Schenn or JVR. What do you guys think? Rather have Yandle or Schenn?
- flyerfan28

It makes sense that maybe the Flyers still thought they could sign re-sign Carle and decided to go for Schenn. Just my opinion, but I think Phx would have asked more with JVR for Yandle.

We're still in a position of weakness with any discussion for a Dman. The issue remains when we carry our problem into the offseason. Now or later, we're in desperate need of defense.

if bryan campbell wasnt signed to such a dumb deal i think the flyers would have made the call, hes 33, just about the same age as timmonen when he got him.

We literally aren't. I mean, we definitely need one, but there's no pressure to get one right now. As long as we have the freedom to wait, there's no significant weakness to the Flyers bargaining position. Simply needing something doesn't imply a position of weakness.

The point is, although we are lacking in the top pairing defense department, we aren't desperate enough that we 100% need to make a deal for one no matter what the asking price is. If there's a deal to be made, then fine. But just giving in to a horrible deal because Phoenix has leverage is a terrible idea.
