A 6 million cap hit erased for a goalie that is average at best and doesn't fit in your future plans. - Sabrenutt
You are then letting a guy that you spent all sorts of time and resources on walk for nothing. No way that happens. That's why there's talk about him being traded. If Darcy were to use the compliance buyout on him, he would literally be the laughing stock of the NHL. That would make him look even more silly than anything Milbury ever did. And that's saying a lot. |

100% agree........you are 100% right. Hedged their bets on the wrong players and embraced mediocrity. It's time to go through the growing pains that accompany those mistakes. - twistedwrister9
Stocking up on draft picks this year is going to be a good start. I think getting rid of Lindy was the spark they needed to finally do what needs to be done. |

Hes an above average goalie on a very terrible team, but you wont believe that if you think stats tell you what you want them to tell you. |

Foolishness to give him away for free. If he was cut loose on the free agent market it would be like sharks to chum. I can't believe anyone would advocate for that. When without a doubt you could deal him somewhere for assets. |

Nothing big is pending right now I'm told....although offers for 29 are coming in. Nothing worth doing though. - Homer
What's your feeling on the mood over there? Do you get the feeling that they wont be too "shy" to make BIG changes? |

I think the only thing that goes down in regards to Miller, Pommer and Vanek is Pommer ends up gone by Wednesday at 3. I don't think Miller goes anywhere until at least the draft. If he goes at all.
Vanek is the one I don't have any type of feeling about. Not really sure why. I just don't really know where he stands within the organization I guess. |

No offense, but you're a Toronto fan. What do you know about drafting players instead of trying to buy the top free agents? That's why you haven't made the playoffs in forever. Burke was fired before his plan was really finished, but the fruits of his labor are showing in that he rebuilt the prospect pool there. It's no coincidence that the Marlies are doing well at this point too.
I agree with a lot of what you said, but for the most part, Buffalo has done well with drafting and developing their own talent over the years. Unfortunately we got a new owner with deep pockets and everyone (including the GM) got a little carried away. I think they've learned their lesson and know how important it is to stick to drafting and developing more than anything else. - HonkFortheGoose
You'll be surprised to learn that I actually have nothing to do with the operations of the Maple Leafs. |

Didn't say you did. I said you're a fan. Toronto fans are the last fans that should be critical of what another organization has done recently. |

I could care less if Miller, Vanek or Pomminville are hear next year.
What I care about is winning so if they are here win, if they are gone then bring in Talent to win.
2nd round draft pics are great to have but I hope we are not waiting 5 years to see them play. |

Well there's zero chance you're going to stock up on top 10 picks so you take what you can get. |

a first and solid prospect......When I say solid I dont mean like Grigs or Armia but more like a McCabe level.

Sounds like you just hear about him. Ive followed his progress (watch a lot of college hockey), and I like him a lot. I think he'll be a quality NHL player.
Would you Kristo + for Pommer? - theblueandgold
I would personally just trade for a physical defensive D with an expiring contract, nothing else. With Bourque and Diaz coming back from injury, Habs will already have too many players. I don't want them to unload prospects/high picks, Habs are not winning the cup. Pitts, Chicago, Boston, LA all have better teams built for the playoffs. I am not buying into this Cinderella season to translate into the playoffs. I'd rather our GM stay patient and keep rebuilding, go to war with what they have maybe with a tweak or 2, nothing major. They already picked up Halpern for the 4th line. |
