I'll give Gillis a pass on Grabner. I believe he was Nonis' first draft pick as a GM. I believe that Nonis even passed on him as the AGM with toronto when Grabner when through waivers. I thought we had seen the last of him when FLA waived.
NYI lucked out. |

The thought of Clowe on a Kesler centered line makes me want to vomit... However, a 3rd line of Clowe OTT Kassian would give me a murder boner. Kassian would learn a TON about competing & assertive hockey being on the ice with those guys. If Buffalo's having a fire sale, get OTT! - DrChristianTroy
Yep, throw a nice center in the middle and you got something. Bozak? Mathias? Jensen with the twins(hopefully it works and Burrows and Higgins with Kesler |

A few reminders....
Grabner had a 4 goal game in a call up and was demoted shortly after by his DBAG coach...
He follows up with a 36 goal rookie season after being dumped.
Nonis didnt pass on Grabner. Burke passed on Grabner.

All indications are pointing towards Ryane Clowe not being in the San Jose lineup tonight. - VANTEL
Maybe he is in vancouvers line up

So I take it Lefty and I bipass the 1st round of the playoffs? Right on, lets go fishing.
I'm so screwed. I've been limping along with 4 or 5 injuries for a month now or longer. still, the only weeks I've lost is when I've not edited between 1 or 3 days of the week. I had both Anderson and MAF out for a long time now. I've been forced to have 4 goalies on my roster through this to make my min for each of the last 3 or 4 weeks even.... Letang out forever....Sharpe out for most of season....all these guys were looking at worldclass seasons....
I feel like the Canucks. Great reg season team but licking the local glory hole in the post season.... |

Mike always seems to find cap space when needed. - bloatedmosquito
Too bad he rarely uses it wisely and too bad the cap use lingers like a A&W fart for years to come.

true but you think nonis could convince burke to take a flyer on his former 1st round choice. 36 goal rookie season speaks volumes. Obviously there was something that turned some GMs off. Gillis wasn't the only one.
But I do agree that AV seems to be pulling the strings at times. |

Would LOVE Rat Boy Ribeiro here. The guy can play, put personal feelings aside, he's a perfect 2C for this team. - TLinden16
Yep, mentioned this yesterday
1) Ribeiro has uber talent
2) Pure playmaker
3) paycheck player. Would never want him big money long term but guys like him actually try in a contract yr |

Burke would still be GM if Nonis could talk sense into him. I'm not so sure Nonis didnt want Grabner.
I mostly think that Grabner wasnt scouted much both as a draft eligible prospect and a pro prospect. To me it points to most GM's taking their lead from AV and Gillis. Obviously our scouts were big enough on Grabner to convince management to pick him for what it's worth. The Panthers quickly dumping him without taking a serious look was a huge mistake and it further added to the irresponsible ignorance by the rest of the GM's to a prospect who had not been given a shot yet.
It's crazy I know... How many teams give up on a scorer who has had a couple of 30 goal pro seasons, a 4 goal game in a call up and hadnt had his shot at a rookie season yet? Typically, a rookie season and a sophmore season are the very least chance a player like this gets but even with all his prodeuction, he couldnt make it by AV. It was a bad move by Gillis but even worse by Tallon and every other GM who could use a free high scoring prospect for nothing.
