Blow it all up, fire Torts and Slats, start clean. Hank hasn't had much help.

Of course referring to the Sean Avery tweet. This is now no longer a hokey team, this is now a side show full of freaks, geeks and whatever else you can imagine.

Of course this team will outwardly defend their coach. I believe there is some merit to Avery's comments though. He is still close with Hank and Richards and I am sure he has some inside information that us fans don't.

I don't even care if he's right or wrong. The fact that he crawled under the skin of some of the guys is enough for me to know that this team is not focused (clearly). But it also points how soft they are mentally.

I find this whole Avery tweet interesting. I couldn't care less what he thinks but I will be curious to see how the Ranger players respond on the ice. If the players truly do support the coaching staff I expect them to prove it on the ice. Wouldn't it be funny if Avery's tweet ends up galvanizing the players and we finally see them get their crap together? Mark my words; that tweet will tell me all I need to know about this team and whether or not Torts has run his course. If they turn the season around then there can be no question how these players feel about the coach. If they continue to play listlessly then it's probably time for a change.

Please don't group us with that #71 & #87 r hockey guy. He never even comes to the pens board to talk hockey. He is quite a douche.

Have to read between the lines. Of course they would show some support in the media but we have to carefully listen to what they say. That will tell us how the players really feel about the coach.

Couldn't agree more. It was the first thing I thought of in terms of galvanizing the players. We will find out

Turn the season around? C'mon Glen, with 14 games left the Rangers would be lucky to win half of them. Not trying to belittle you, but after 34 games I've seen enough of a sample size that this team has no fight, no heart and no spine. The Avery tweet is just funny, because it's distraction from the Rangers core problems.

Very good point, this tweet has definitely put a spotlight on the coach and his relationship, or lack thereof, with his players.

Happy Easter! Hope everyone has a good one... As mentioned above, if they love Tortorella so much they can use all this job speculation and the Avery tweet as a galvanizing thing to try and shut everyone up and save this season. If its the same sorry effort fr here on out i think it's safe to say the tweet wasn't off base.

I've pointed to last seasons Pens who after 41 games were 12 points behind the Rangers in the standings and there were whispers about Bylsma's job. They turned things around, no? Almost caught the Rangers. It isn't too late and anyone who says so is a quitter. I'm not going to argue how likely it is or debate how disappointing this team has been. All I'm saying is it isn't too late. I still believe in the core group of players on this roster. Have you given up on Cally, McD, Girardi, Hank? There is obviously something not right with this team right now but I still believe there is a chance they can turn things around and until that chance is officially closed I won't give up on the season. If that means you all think I'm too much of an optimist or whatever then so be it. I don't really care at this point.

100% correct, this Avery tweet won't have any effect on how they play, they are shameful group, we can only hope they fire Torts during the off season and we do in 13-14 what was done in 93-94

Nothing wrong with being optimistic. Nothing wrong with being guarded or worried either; this team has shown us very little this season.

Well then I guess I'm a quitter. Just like in 2009-10 they've dug themselves too big of a hole. Now they have 3 teams breathing down their neck.

If they would have stepped up like an NHL team and beaten Buffalo and Florida we might be a little less dejected #YOUREAPWHATYOUSOW

Like said some time last week, the only season they ended with a high note was on the last day of the 2010-11. Even then they need help for a terrible Tampa team to get into the playoffs. If they played like their jobs were on the line, the results may be different.

Gaborik for a 1st. Never thought he would end his stay here like that. If he gets shipped out, I have a feeling he goes on a tear. He is still a very good player. This season aside, he has put up similar Jagr numbers in the time he has been here( not sure of the exact numbers, but somewhat close. In my opinion, was one of the best signings they have made in awhile.

For all the grief this season has caused, I kinda wish the whole season would have just been locked out, rather than this bs.

Stranger things have happened in sports. There is certainly no benefit to losing this year, so hopefully they can find something. Although, I have to be honest, I don't think anything changes unless they drop a bomb into that lockerroom (i.e., major change). Of course, I hope I am wrong, and I haven't given up. Just haven't seen anything that makes me optimistic either.

I can't take the possibility of winning the draft lottery. Gotta find a way to make the playoffs
