That was my point. Stastny doesn't improve this team.
Bad contract, injuries and producing less than Bozak, Grabs and Kadri. - systemtool
Stastny plays 3rd line ..... His wingers don't help his cause |

They allowed 16 less goals than the Leafs, 19 less goals than the Flyers. - Pecafan Fan
They haven't allowed more than 2 goals since March 9 when they played the Leafs. |

With MAF's injury issues I'd think they might have some concerns heading into the playoffs... - Flyfreaky
Vokoun's numbers are ok too.
Not sure they need an upgrade in net. And Fleury, like it or not, has got a cup under his belt. He's got plenty of experience in the playoffs. As long as they don't face the flyers, they'll be fine. |

lol no he's not. Simmons is such a tool. Kessel had spurts last year where he was clearly playing the best of his career, even though he was flying last night for sure. - blahman20
Don't focus on soley the goal totals. His uncanny brilliant passing skills & his back checking skills have improved 100%. He has become an all around elite NHL player. Look at his game as a whole. I'd rather have this Kessel than the one dimensional player he was earlier on in his career. No contest. |

He is over rated and over paid. Again, pass.
He plays over 19 minutes a game, not 3rd line as you suggest. |

I don't see how they could upgrade what they have, but don't think it's the best tandem for a team with Cup dreams...I think other teams can rattle Fleury as well... |

I wouldn't say he's playing GREAT defensively, has he improved? Yes he has. I still don't think he's playing the best hockey for his career right now. |

So would putting Joe Colbourne there. Point is, hes not a number 1 center and would be our highest paid forward and far from our best player. Horrible.
Stastny would be our highest paid player beside Phaneuf. No (frank)ing way. |

Forget the overpaid part, we would only be paying it for 1 season. The guy has had 3 seasons of 70+ pts, and is still young. Worth the gamble. Im not saying he is Getzlaf, but he is easily better then Bozak. |

AGREED. Stastny isn't a difference maker. He just comes with unrealistic expectations, an over paid salary, he's injury prone & he won't come cheap in a trade. So as a Leaf GM, Nonis should say no thank u. |

I'd take MAF over Crawford, who is on the team probably favored to win the West right now. Anaheim has Fasth/Hiller, can you trust them in the playoffs? We all know Vancouvers goalie situation. A lot of teams have some questions in net, but I don't think Pitt is upset they have to roll with MAF. |

We aren't, and shouldn't be, looking for better than Bozak. Kadri should be taking his spot next year anyways.
We also would have to give up assets to get him. We would also be carrying that contract into next year when the cap drops.
We need a true number center or bust. |

So what do we do when Bozak wants 4M+ at the end of this season? pay him? |
