is there any explanation as to why that happened? - Dozzer
I somewhat remember this story...
She absorbed her twin in the womb, and got the extra appendages that way... there was an italian guy in a freakshow who had a 3rd leg that he could kick a soccer ball with... not that common that they can actually control the extra limbs, they usually don't even grow to full size.
Her village thought she was the incarnation of one of the hindu gods(vishnu?- the one with all the arms, destroyer of worlds) I'm pretty sure they were against her ever getting them removed.

i'm not doing the dictator thing.. i just think socialism is a better setup
problem is.. everyone who tries it forgets the one crucial aspect.
the absence of a class structure. you cant have that in a pure communistic society.
i'd like to see a hybrid developed.. one that allows for the personal freedoms of capitalism while sharing a high amount of material asset.. say 50%.. IF (and thats one HUUUUUGE if) it can be administrated properly things like basic housing and eating needs (as well as an improved education system that would allow for smaller classes) would eventually present itself.
i think basic standard of living should be something we all pitch in towards across the board. its not a popular concept, i understand that.. but personal greed is not only driving the economy off a cliff.. its destroying our planet.
at the very least we need to curb the freedoms of capitalism.

and thats way too heavy for HB.. sorry. - Dozzer
greed is the number one flaw in humanity, which makes this hard, but i agree- there are certain things that everyone should have the luxury of...eating properly, and schooling...in canada people cant live in a tent all year - but it gets a lot more complicated the more you add for sure.

I don't think you need to curb freedoms... just tax the poop out of them
So long as that taxed money is returned to the people by way of education, healthcare, and building better infrastructure, it's not a problem.
The problem is government is too big... and money gets "lost" all too easily.
