Why do Leafs fans want to get rid of MacArthur? - Atomic Wedgie
For me he's too soft, doesn't play with an edge and is invisible night where he doesn't do anything. |

Why do Leafs fans want to get rid of MacArthur? - Atomic Wedgie
I'd love to keep him, but he's probably gonna want similar money to Grabo... no thanks at that price |

Oh FFS... read the rest.
Leafs have 4 LD prospects and 1 RD prospect - Blacker.
trade from strength, not weakness - Big_Lightnin
Yeah, but you'd get a much more solid return with Blacker being NHL ready. Finn and Percy are beauts and shouldn't be traded because they aren't RD's. |

but I have a lot more faith in Clowe's experience come playoff time than I do in Frattin.
next season, frattin takes his third line role and clowe hops into his 2nd line role (once resigned) - Barx
If we can pick up Clowe by trading them Macarthur as the center piece that would be ideal for us. Add some size and we wouldn't be losing much if any offensive production. |

They did it to generate offense not because of how he was playing on D, he had just come off an injury and they tried him there. - MapleLeafsFTW
I don't know if they move him to the wing if he was playing as well as you seem to imply |

hmm... Blacker's almost NHL ready and is a solid RD prospect.
Leafs D is terrible, particularily lacking RD.
ya, trade him |

#1/2 Dman is far more of a hole than a #1 C.
and that is not downplaying the need for a #1C |

A little bit of troll repellent - clip and save:
For a certain unholy poster last night, who wanted to argue that you always want a guy with less talent and more hustle than a guy with more talent and less hustle:
But when it comes to fatigue, Carlyle would rather have a skilled player working at 85 per cent than a less skilled player giving everything.
“If you have a tired player, who can give you 85 per cent, and his skill level is a lot higher than a guy at 100 per cent, but only has 50 per cent of his skill level, you do a juggling act,” Carlyle said. “We’re going to try and put the best lineup on the ice that gives us the best chance for success.”
And for those who question hiring Barb Underhill as a skating coach:
One of the things that helped Hamilton — who was always talented — take his game to the next level was a summer of working on his skating with Leafs skating coach Barb Underhill, the former Olympic figure skater.
“It was great. I’m still working with Barb. She’s been great,” said Hamilton. “I dedicated a great deal of my summer working up here with her and work on that. It’s pretty cool how she can document with video before and after. Just seeing the results now, seeing the difference, seeing what’s better in regard with a lot of things, the stride, feeling better on the ice.
“I owe a lot to Barb. I’ve been skating the same way. But with the video, you can actually see it. It takes some time. There were some frustrating days. One thing was trying to bring the knees up. Instead of doing a full extension, I was concentrating on my knees, which gives me more power. That was something I never even knew. It’s a process, but I’m making some positive steps.”

There's no way he's going to ask for 5+. He's a 20 goal/50 point player who doesn't bring much else to the table. |

defense should be the last thing on the leafs mind, since we got so many. Make use of what we got, not put in some plug of a veteran defender thats easily halting guys like blacker to make the team |

And yet we're still 6th in league scoring per game. If they commit to any big move, it has to be another top D to partner Phaneuf. |

Not directed solely at you.
I've got a mental idea. Let's keep it the way it is. We aren't winning a cup this year. That i can promise you. If we can add something in a smallish move for not much, sure, do, it. If not, let's just enjoy the fact these players playing right now for TML have been good enough to potentially give us fans the opportunity to see at least 4 playoff games for the first time in nearly a decade.
Then, in the off-season, let's re-group and see how we would like to move forward. We always cry out to "build properly" but we always through Blacker,Percy and Finn into trade proposals. Does anyone know how these guys will pan out yet??? I don't. THey may be good, may not be. I believe the organisation would be in better shape, keeping all these guys instead of shipping some for Burns. Just my opinion |

That's a truly frightening d-corps heading into the playoffs.
Only Phaneuf would even be able to attempt a playoff beard. |

If only they had a young centre scoring at more than a PPG who plays with a snarl, isn't afraid to drive to the net and makes his linemates better. Hmmmmmm. |

Thing is, they don't actually need a "top D" to partner with Phaneuf.
He's played exceptionally well this year with AHL rookies beside him.
We don't need to get him Scott Stevens.
We just need to get him Jamie Macoun - a vanilla stay at home who can compensate when Dion does something crazy. |
