so is this rumor just kind of dying out? while the trade doesn't necessarily make a lot of sense in some ways, like trading with a future divisional rival, in others having Miller around to help grow Lindback as future trade bait and groom Vasilevski when he's ready, would have its advantages. I think we have a few pieces that may be worth parting with for that kind of trade

I agree he would probably be a better option, but im not so sure about long term. when miller resigns is he going to demand a raise? maybe, but that albatross of a contract he carries could haunt us just like Lecavalier's could end up doing. while I would love to think he turns into a buyout over the summer and signs with us for a more reasonable amount its a whole lot of maybes and our goaltending situation for the next 3-4 years is questionable at best

I don't think Luongo gets bought out. In fact, lots of outlets are reporting that he is the guy to watch here at the TDL.

Bishop, Luongo, Miller, Nabokov and Khabibulin are your available names. I'm not sold on Bishop any more than I am Lindback (I actually like Lindback more). Luongo's contract isn't great. Miller only has one year left. Nabokov might be Roloson-2.0. Khabibulin...been there, done that.

Luongo is the guy I'd look at if I'm Yzerman.

I don't think so either. would you trade him before the playoffs though? I know Schneider is terrific, but is their tandem enough for a deep run?

I like Lindback a lot too. its a shame that his injury could possibly end his time with us and even affect his ability to be a future #1 in this league. his numbers just don't say how good he's been. our D hangs him out to dry more than a swimming pool towel rack. his last few games really showed that he was willing to make up for our mistakes more. he just never had to face those types of situations with Suter and Weber in front of him

after what happened with Roli, Nabokov and Khabibulin would be big mistakes in a lot of peoples eyes. people would wonder if Stevie was opening a retirement home for goalies on the beautiful beaches of Tampa

They need a ton of help up front and basically can't afford not to deal a $5.3M all-star asset who sits on the bench. Foolish not to deal him. If he doesn't get dealt by deadline and Canucks lose in first/second round, my guess is that Gillis gets the ax.

Personally, I think Yzerman owes Lindback the position of at least backup next season. Guy Boucher's system was an absolute mess and totally unfair to the goaltender. You're absolutely right that the stats don't show just how good he's been for us. The potential to be a long-term number one guy is definitely there.

I'm with you. just wondering if he gets dealt as a goalie going back to another team.. can we really take a contract like Luongo's with V4 on the roster?

The cap hit itself isn't bad at all; it's the length. We'd have to shed some salary, which shouldn't be too hard. We'll get relief from Ohlund's injury, and we will probably get rid of Malone and Brewer. The numbers can work.

what could we expect to send back? I have a feeling it might be substantially more than what we could get miller for. with such a stock cupboard of prospects the question is, what would we trade our future for? Jon Cooper might come into this as well seeing as how he was grooming them

Luongo will come cheaper than Miller, simply because of the contract.

i'm not sure Gillis agrees on that point.. however, with our injuries who does that leave?

Purcell is the guy I view as being integral to any discussion with Vancouver.

that would be a shame. I think he could feed assists to Conacher and/or Johnson for a few years

I don't know how much room there is for him in the long-term. You've got Connolly and Brown, who are both arguably NHL ready for the top six, not in the lineup right now. Add Conacher, and St. Louis and there's your top six set on the wing.

I like the look of that them for the future, but honestly I'm not sure how I feel about having 3 wingers in the top6 with such little NHL experience

Figures I'd miss another great hockey disscussion. I honestly don't think Yzerman makes any goalie moves.

You know we're always here with great hockey discussions. Not to pump up you folks' egos or anything, but the TB community on here generally has some of the best pure hockey discussions. Great stuff as always! You people make this a riot.

The option we have is the one Stevie made last year. Lindback will be fine he's improved throughout the year.stick with the plan but change some of the notion that only D men play defensively. Start with back checking, positioning and upgrade from Brewer to someone with legs left. Teach Aulie how to hit, and leave the slot covered. This is where we will and have hung out any goalie to dry. Hopefully Cooper has them ready when they hit the ice and we don't have to play from behind before they wake up. A lot of this is basics which we do not preach. Play the system to see what we really have in Lindback before giving up on him.

I kinda like this one, that's is if Kipler would agree to leave Calgary.

Ryan Malone

To Tampa Bay
Pittsburghs 1st
Mikka Kiprusoff

Im not quite sure I see this value in Lindback that you so clearly think hes worth a 1st round pick and a 2nd round pick, or a 2nd round pick and a 3rd round pick. His value has decreased since he became a starting goalie. He doesnt appear to be doing well as a starter of a team that should be in a playoff spot, but is below a terrible Sabres team in the standings.

Kucherov isnt even a top grade prospect, in fact he has a poor probability of success grade in the NHL.

Brewer is a salary dump.

The deal entirely revolves around your 1st round draft pick, which if you add Miller now will probably catapult to a mid first round pick, anywhere from 13-18.

The bolded statement is incorrect, Again, I have watched EVERY Bolts game this year and contrary to what others who don't watch every game Lindback is still a #1 goalie in the making. Is he ready, no, but is he still capable...absolutely. That is why he still has value.

As for Kucherov, he potted 63 points in 33 games.
As for a scouting report, "One of the purest finishers in the 2011 draft class. Had an unbelievable 11 goals and 21 points in 7 games at the U18 World Junior Championships en route to winning a Bronze Medal and being named the tournament's Best Forward. Excellent agility and "wiggle" in his game allows him to elude defenders and give himself space to create."

He is a top 10 prospect in a very deep Bolts system. Here is another quote about Kucherov..."At the junior level there is Nikita Kucherov, who is perhaps the Lightning's most dynamic offensive prospect. He has always had the offensive talent, but it was more of a question as to whether he would make the move to North America and this past off-season he did just that."
