Nice rant!

But at least the Hawks didn't go out of business like the Montreal Maroons.

- ArlingtonRob

Or the Vancouver Millionaires - who had only 3 less SC than our heroes.

My friend, have you ever heard of the TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS?

If you think you have been f'd over by the Blackhawks in your lifetime, perhaps you should take an anal width measurement on season seat holders of that great, storied franchise. They have been taking it up the rump for 45 consecutive years without even a glimmer of promise to brighten their days.

- RickJ

Yes, there is that - but at least they had more glory years in the past.

But they're very far from having any glory again.

One difference Rick...

...the Leafs print money, really big piles of it. Hawks can't compare in that regard.

...and if actual hockey is discussed, the Leafs history thru 67 is second only to the Habs.

Everyone keeps saying this is a "great franchise". It isn't.

It is a long-time franchise with a rabid fan base in a top North American market - but is on the ice certainly the worst of the original six: only 4 SC in 80 years, only two in my lifetime (probably only one in the lives of most posters here), and only three other SC finals teams.

Great franchises don't run off or trade their greatest players - Hull, Esposito, Roenick, Chelios; great franchises don't squander potentially great teams because they don't want to pay the going rate. Great franchises don't continually have disfunctional ownership and front offices - which the Hawks have had in my 50+ years as a fan - and which, apparently, they continue to have.

Great franchises do not continue to take money from sell-out crowds and not put a winning product on the ice.

Make no mistake: I am a die-hard fan - but I certainly recognize that there is no wy this is a great franchise

Oh only 2 cups in your lifetime? Try 0 cups in 43+ years, and Zero cups in my lifetime with no light at the end of the tunnel. Life must be hard

Don't forget he complained about other sports too. Shall we also throw the Bills in this convo?

Buffalo, that is the answer to the city that has been royally f-ed the most.

Good to know the whole league thinks our GM is a dud.
No wonder nothing of significance ever gets done.

- Hawkster

No, not that the GM is a dud. It's that there are too many chefs in the kitchen. Problem for the 'Hawks is ONE OF THEM DUNNO HOW TO COOK!

The Blues had 3 straight 68-70. And the Bobby Orr goal is comparable to the missed kick.

Though...that is one less...and at least they have championships from the Cards and Rams.

So yes, the winner is Buffalo. No one else can complain and win this case.

Yes, the Maple Leafs do print money and there would be even bigger stacks of it if they ever put a consistent winner on the ice, which they have no idea how to do. If they ever got good, the hatred of the Canucks would be very mild by comparison to how much people could hate the Maple Leafs.

But don't underestimate the brand that is the Chicago Blackhawks. And that is proven everytime a game comes on from putrid hockey markets like Phoenix, Anaheim, Florida, Columbus and Nashville. The name and brand sells tickets in the USA and Canada.

The Hawks have been separated from their 5 other Original 6 brothers starting next year - I'm very sad about that. Spare me from the crap that is Phoenix, Nashville, Dallas.

Thank you! I will gladly take the trophy on behalf of Buffalo for worst sports franchises ever. Oh wait... we would probably find a way to lose that too.

After last nights game, I'd still rather have a better goalie and defensive help.

I'd be all for Bolland and McNeil to PHX for Vermette. Only about $400K more in cap space, and true #2C, with a good FO% and can play on the PK/PP.

Not sure if that would get it done, but PHX get's a good shut down C, more cap space, and a good C prospect in return...Then add a Matt Martin or a Hendricks for some size/grit for a package of prospects not named TT, Danault, Johns, and a pick

Saad/Toews/Kane
Sharp/Vermette/Hossa
Bickel/Shaw/Stalberg
Frolik/Krugman/Martin or Hendricks

2nd line C addressed, and more toughness...

"Chicago was contacted by Feaster, not the other way around — and the Blackhawks are now discussing internally the cost of a rental player, and whether Iginla would be able to play the left wing behind right wingers Marian Hossa and Patrick Kane. Chicago has not made an offer to Calgary yet, nor received a trade proposal from Feaster. But if 20-year-old Brandon Saad is in the equation, “That trade is not happening,” said a Blackhawks source."

No trd proposal yet...ehhh...what the hell has been lighting up this board for the last 2 days then? Luv the rumor BS!

MEMO to John McDonough.

Wanna win a Cup? Hire a competent, experienced GM. Let him do his job. If he doesn't replace him.

The end.

I just read that Kiprusoff has told the Flames that he will not report to his new team if he is traded due to family concerns...
