I could be wrong, but the only FA we signed going into this season was Tanner Glass lol - rival22
Exactly. You hear the Pens getting involved with talks with Parise, Suter, or whoever is the exciting flavor is of that off-season, but it seems Shero always maintains his senses and doesnt get caught up in that. They needed a quality backup..they got Vokoun but didnt break the bank doing so like he would going after someone like Luongo. |

Perhaps Ray Shero is trying to trade away all his 2013 draft picks because he doesn't want to go to Newark to make the selections |

Would you want to negotiate an extension with him? At the end, he'd have your wife and your house. - rival22
I believe it's a fair assessment that if the Pens don't Win the cup or even reach the cup Bylsma gets fired? |

So, fun story. first, to all those out there doing the 180 on iginla, lets just say I am riding high on the I told you so ism. I'm done now, so we can all be good pens fans again. anyway, I work uptown and took an early dinner at the consol energy center fridays yesterday. so whos sitting at the bar across from me? Ray Shero. drinking either a gin and tonic with lime, or just a tonic with lime. (would be hilarious to hear shero call feaster... "ssshhhoooo I give you hankoskiss, agthshtinos, and a firsht, for iginla... do... do we have a deal..? feaster- "he's toasted, got him right where I want him!" ) anyway... he was either texting or talking the whole time and when he talked, he walked into the corner of the bar where nobody was. fun to watch. anyway... WELCOME TO PITTSBURGH IGGY! GO PENS!
ps. don't drop duper, put iggy with malkin and put morrow with cookie and sutter... at least as long as the top line plays this good. |

haha, nah Shero is too much a wheeler and dealer. I think he would use any reason he could to try and network for a deal even if he shows up with empty pockets where his draft picks used to be.
This reminds me of that Paperclip story where someone traded a paperclip for something better and eventually got a car. Shero shows up at a meeting with lint, and walks out with Iginla, Murray, and Morrow and everyone is looking at the lint in their pockets asking how did that just happen. |

HA HA HA I forgot to laugh, oneonta and iginla takin a bubble bath! - ChrisMS
Those guys know hockey - they didn't realize that Feaster was going to give Iginla away for nothing. I know Pens fans are happy (and rightly so), but from any objective standpoint this is just a bad deal. Calgary is a disaster and needed to get something in return for Iginla in order to start the rebuild. |

Oneonta (and myself) were against the amount of assets it would take to get Iginla (or what they should have been), not the player - Gunner Staal
it's ok ... I said my piece, no sense turning to fellow regular contributors into enemies with the playoffs coming up. |

exactly. Nothing against him. I thought it would take a ridiculous amount to get him - a first, Pouliott and another big piece. It's not hard to figure out where I was going. Iggy wouldn't have been worth it in that regard. A first and two mid prospects, I can certainly live with.

I think both of these players selecting Pittsburgh over Boston who I believe was equally as strong as a landing spot for these guys can put the no one wants to play with Crosby ideas to bed. This team is very complete assuming Geno Letand and Fleury are all healthy. You worry about the lack of effort with all of these guys but then you remind yourself they brought in to great captains who are hungry for a cup. Shouldn't be an issue but you can't rule it out. Next game in Boston should be very interesting. With these additions we added skill with a lot of grit. We will be very difficult to play against. |

Do Neal and Iginla play the same wing? Not sure that works moving one of them to their off wing. |

im going to hurt u all...
iggy choose pitt to win cup AND TO PLAY WITH SID.. your not going to put him on a line with jeffrey and neal and if geno is healthy geno and neal...
DB puts him with sid... either kuni drops to 2nd line or dupes to 3rd... plain and simple... |

Switch Kunitz and Iginla? - nateca44
There are so many possibilities. I guess only time will tell. My thought process was to keep the best line in the NHL together. Kuntiz Malkin Iglina would be a very dangerous 2nd line. |

Neal is a natural LW. He's been playing RW lately. |

The way I understand it, he gave Feaster a list of 4 teams. Maybe I'm giving Feaster too much credit, but he could have had the deal with Boston all but signed and faxed in, and said to Iggy, "well, Boston's a done deal...whaddaya think?" "Weeeeellllll...."
However it went down, he's a Penguin. Solid, solid addition, along with the others, for the stretch. - tangent_man
I understand he was given four teams to work with. Feaster only got three offers, so one of those teams wasn't interested - probably LA based on their cap and what they have to resign in the offseason (quite a few RFAs). I wonder if one of those teams that offered was outside the four.

I had the same comments throughout. The tone was he wasn't a need really based on what Calgary was looking for. If you can't figure it out and couldn't sense what I was saying, then ...
Yes, it can be our dream now. A first and two secondary prospects, I can live with. A first, Pouliot and Blueger, I couldn't have. |

Yes it's a bad deal, but Iggy completely tied Feasters hands. It sounds like there were two deals on the table and Iggy chose Pittsburgh. Feaster deserves lot's of blame for other things, but Iginla basically orchestrated this deal.
