We are better off trying to trade with St. Louis give them an expiring contract or a young prospect for 1 of there 4 restricted guys.

Or try getting Halak from them since they are basically going with the rookie Jake Allen.

If Nonis wanted to keep him, he still would've said "No" instead of exposing him to waivers and risking him being picked up (as minimal as the risk is). Komisarek doesn't control whether the team waives him.

Nonis is likely losing Komi for the main purpose of flexibility at the deadline. They don't use him and he's dead weight. He also knows he won't be claimed at that cap hit. Its quite simple, really.
