Kessel for Seguin and Hamiton
truculence, belligerence, fortitude
just do Gardiner, Kessel, 2 1sts, Lupul, Kadri for Chara, Thornton, Lucic, McQuaid - AlfieisKing
At least think of something creative if you're going to troll |

Not sure if this was mentioned, but Komisarek's salary next season is 3.5M not 4.5
4.5 is the cap hit only.
Teams may be more willing to pick him up... |

Yes we all understand this, but the act of waiving the clause was made solely by Komisarek. Without Komi waiving Toronto could not do anything. - itsalwaysfunny
He hasn't played since February 2nd, how much "convincing" did it really take? |

Most teams don't care about the $$$.....it's the hit that matters! |

still seems hefty enough that i'd be surprised if anyone picked him up |

yeah people forget that these bad contract guys do not want to play in the AHL if they can avoid it |

but it would be good for some crap market team that is trying to get to the cap floor. |

Well after sitting between February 2nd and March 20th he decided that skating for the Marlies>not skating for the Leafs...beyond that there really isn't much to this story. Redden was stuck in the AHL until he was buyout rescued by the new CBA. Did he want to be there? Of course not. But I think if you asked any hockey player they would rather skate then sit |

he does in a way. with a NMC, there is no point in waiving him, because even if he clears, he can't be sent down, so what would be the point in waiving him....
and IMO, this move is being done to get him some playing time, in order to actually move him. nobody is gonna offer anything for a guy who hasn't played in 2 months, but if he gets sent down, does well in the AHL, then he might get claimed on re-entry, or moved for a low pick or something.
i think this move is probably more about making it possible to move him at the deadline, then it is about some imminent trade..........just a feeling. - sensarmy_11
There are no more re-entry waivers which adds to this theory, once he clears the Leafs are in full control of his situation again. |

Okay so let me get this straight:
1) Eklund says Leafs are looking at Derek Roy in center
2) HockeyyInsiderr on Twitter says Stastny
3) And Toronto Star reports Mike Ribeiro
Who to believe................. - Mapleleafs_91
NONE OF THE ABOVE
I think much of what is being said and done is to drive up value for our players. Pitsburgh has interest in Kuli, and we want to get the highest return, so you make people believe the player they want may soon may be traded elsewhere. Fabricate demand and collect more.
Nonis also said in his speech absolutely nothing other than the fact he will listen to any idea someone may have. |

When a franchise sucks as bad as Toronto's, I would never use a catch phrase "something's brewing".
Perhaps I am not an internet marketer, trying to get attention to an otherwise boring franchise and boring rumor. - Daman
Franchise sucks? The banners hanging from the ACC rafters would disagree you clown. Yes 1967 we know.
You sure have a lot of hate for such a "boring franchise." Jealously of Toronto in general I presume. |

look at the history of goalie trades and the fact that Kipper statistically hasn't been that good for the last several seasons, it sounds like a pretty good deal to me. I have always felt a late 1st would be the trade ceiling for Kipper
No interest in Bozak. would be satisfied with Reimer + 1st
who had this rumor specifically? - S Kaspar Rollins
If the Leafs trade a roster player and a first for a goalie with a 3.27 g.a.a. And a .876 sv%. I'm grabbing a gun and finding a clock tower. So we are clear I'm being unbiased I named my dog after Kipper and I still don't make that trade. |

Actually every small team would prefer having guys with a smaller salary than cap hit as it keeps them above the floor while paying less money |

I would say Kuli then grabbo. Mac is the only guy with chemistry on the team of the three. |

It's the timing that makes this a story, IMHO. The Leafs needed to clear a roster spot yesterday for Gardiner, but they sent down Holzer. Why didn't they approach Komisarek about waiving the NMC then? (Or why didn't Komisarek approach the Leafs; whichever way you think it happened.) Given that they don't play until tonight, there was time to make the move.
Don't get me wrong; I'm not buying Ek's typical "WHERE THERE'S SMOKE THERE'S FIRE!!!" (I abhor the cliché.) But it at least seems like Nonis is giving himself options. |
