You asked for candidates.

I think, realistically, we'll be seeing players like Rick DiPietro, Ville Leino, Alex Tanguay, Steve Montador, David Jones, Ed Jovanovski, Dany Heatley, Mike Komisarek, Tim Connolly getting bought out opposed to the Richardses, Hossas and Luongos of the world.

Honestly I view Voracek as being a bigger requirement to our core then either Schenn or Couturier.
- opeth_pa

Not that I disagree, but keep in mind one thing. Voracek is just now coming into his own and having a breakout year, in what, his 5th NHL Season? Schenn and Couturier are in their 2nd Season. And Schenn didn't play a full Season of NHL games last year.

Right. No reason they can't be equally important pieces of the core.

There are some tough decisions that need to be made.. i just hope that those guys arent shipped out for a stop gap improvement.

Sure, that's entirely possible, too. Cap and budget concerns affect each team differently.

I don't see that happening. Only way any of those 3 players are moved is for a top young defenseman. Which would be a move for the future.

The problem is players like Hossa and Luongo are unlikely to be playing in the last years of their current deals, and whatever team has them will have a portion of their contract counting against the cap for years after they have retired.

http://prohockeytalk.nbcs...ongo-rule-in-the-new-cba/

If Hossa retired after the 2016-17 season when he will be 38, Chicago would be charged $17.1 million spread evenly against their cap for the next four seasons.

I will never understand how the NHL can penalize teams for contracts that were done under the old CBA. just doesn't seem right to me.

It's not right at all. It's like the speed limit's 45 mph and they change it to 25 and you get a ticket for all the times you did 45 even though it was legal.

i'd Trade Talbot and Fedotenko. Let go of Briere at the end of the season with a buyout and possibly Bryz. Also I don't believe in trading Brayden Schenn or Sean Couturier because even if we do trade them its not like were gonna make the playoffs with 1 or 2 players. A jarome iginla or jay bouwmeester does not get this team in the playoffs.

Unless they're acquiring a promising defenseman, I don't see any of those guys being moved.

And I'd rather them trade a lesser piece for a guy like Leddy or Barrie.

If you're trading B Schenn or Couturier, it's not to make a playoff run this year. It's for a return that is for the long term.

I think Leddy would be a nice player here.

that happened to me on Ben franklin bridge.... i was going 46 mph and for a stretch of about two hundred yardsit changes to 20..Cop sat there with a radar gun and caught me 26 mph over($300 ticket plus pooploads of points)....

I was at rutgers at the time so i went to court no lawyer and all...i told the judge i was a college student and that this was a speed trap...he let me go with a 17 dollar ticket....all i had in pocket was five dollars ... he was so mad....i had to pay the rest next month.

I would keep Talbot. It think he's a valuable player for next year too. Fedotenko probably won't be back regardless.

How is trading B Schenn and Couturier helping us long term when we obviously know this team doesn't have the patience for a D-Man. These 2 players would only bring back a aging veteran with a high cap hit and with a reduced cap coming you need young players with a lower salary. Plus i would must rather saved the money to sign Giroux long term then having to give up Couturier or Schenn for a aging D-Man

I meant the road's speed limit was 45 and then they decided to change that same road's speed limit to 25 the next day.

But I get what you're saying. Right near my house the road goes from 35 to 25 over a bridge and there are always cops hiding out to get people.

Why would those 2 players only bring back an aging veteran? You obviously don't trade either player for an aging veteran. The possibility does eixist however, to trade for a young player of another positon. Such as a young defenseman.
