They might, who knows who could drop? Every year there's a great prospect that drops a few slots. Nurse and Ristolainen seem to be the risers this year, while Zadorov and Monahan seem the droppers

In 2008, they took Sbisa, despite a couple of highly rated forwards still being on the board. They take the guy at the top of their board in round one, regardless of position.

Sbisa turned out to be a decent NHL d man..He would really help this team, but when you can get a difference maker like Pronger you do it....I would make the deal they did every day and twice on Sunday...but your point is a very valid one

Outside of Seth Jones, there may not be a D who goes in the top 10 this year. So there is definitely a very good chance the "best available player" when the Flyers pick will be a forward. I'd be fine with it, too.

My real worry is that they would reach for a d man and miss instead of getting BPA, even if he is a forward, cause like Bill said in his column at least that could give us trade assets to aquire a top end d man without opening up other holes in the team

Yes, they can. But they also need to add a highly mobile puck mover and also need Meszaros to stay healthy and return to his top form.
