"if this team had Weber, no way in hell this squad is 12th in the east." His present team is 13th in the West.

Yup cause they can't score goals to save their life. Flyers are 15th in the NHL in that category, Nashville is 28th.

Bill Meltzer, Wayne Fish, and Anthony San Filippo are three I would categorize as "good Philadelphia Flyers reporters."

Sarah Baicker is in the middle. I'm sure I'm missing others.

"Well, I wouldn't say I miss them, Bob."

You're just giving Sarah a break because she's a woman.

Every 5 games the Flyers score two more goals.

No. For example, if Diane Pucin ever covered the Flyers, I would giving her scathing reviews.

Because she's reasonably cute then?

Appeared on a calendar?

Pretty sure Anthony San Fillipo is now employed by the Flyers, so while I have admired his newspaper work over the years (and still read his work, tweets, etc), his objectivity is now, ahem, compromised.

She used to write for either the Inky or DN. Can't remember. Skipped her articles after the first I read.

I get that. At least his work doesn't read like a house organ.

Diane Pucin is arguably the worst sportswriter I have ever read.

There are sportswriters out there whose opinions I dislike or disagree with, but Pucin was flat out terrible here in Philly.

Last guy to cover the Flyers for the Inky or DN who actual knew what he was talking about was Jay Greenberg

You don't have to score more goals to win games you just have to score more than the team your playing. Boston is quite a way behind us in goals but has only six losses.

If this team is going to give up 3 goals a game it needs a lot more production up front then it's getting. No one on this team is scoring goals in the last two and a half weeks.

Good stuff. I grew up reading Jay Greenberg.

I've always thought highly of Les Bowen's work covering the Flyers (and like his work on the Eagles, as well).

Les will even give his 2 cents on the Flyers on twitter occasionally.

Not sure how to respond other than, "I know that."

They have to limit the goals against, for sure, but they sure as heck aren't doing much offensively.

Les was guilty of being a goalie blamer. He never came close to breaking down a game like Bill Meltzer or Jay Greenberg.

Bowen is ok, but you can tell he grew up in the land of Dixie. He often badly misjudges players ability, although he did get better as time went on.

Who knows? Maybe some time out is what they need.

I can't get worked up over young athletes out having a good time.

They are off today, correct? If so they should probably spend it at home sitting on the couch watching Maury.

I didn't really find that in Les, but to be fair, there were/are times when the goalie deserves blame.

Boston has scored more goals than the flyers in 2 less games. The real difference is in goals against where the difference is 30+ goals given up.
