switch it up boys' since we have all these assets, douglas murray is out there presumably! would SB even begin to know how to approach doug wilson and find out what he wants for murray? - wonthecup10
NOOOOOOOOOOOOO. I think I might be alone on this but that guy is awful. So slow, big hits get him out of position, isn't great along the wall. The Hawks forwards abuse him, especially Toews almost every game they play. Shaw would probably be pleased though, as Murray has laid the boom a few times this year |

Probably to get out if Dodge Miller will have to wait until Draft day.
Hawks run a clinic in Dallas, rollover the Stars 8-1 - Best show in the NHL:My Fox Chicago: http://bit.ly/ZiYfwM - Al
Miller for his reputation of quiet classy guy...he has completely lost it this year and it started with the lockout. He a goner from Sabre land this summer! Problem is he has not been great either for over 2 years! |

Who on this board thinks that? I have never seen one person say that. Although it is very fair to say he is clearly trending upward, is dominant with his speed and size regularly lately. He totally created two goals against Dallas. EDIT and he is top 25 in the league in plus minus. Don't be like Foley and Olcyzk and criticize every little mistake because he isn't signed long term
On Ott, I was guilty of this and I feel like some on the board are as well. He is good at the dot and can bang bodies/wear down defensemen, two attributes needed on this team for playoff help and that makes him a popular target. But after seeing a few games of his this year, he brings almost nothing else to the table. Not good defensively, limited offensive skill, little flow/creativity when he has the puck in space. I think they would benefit more (and cheaper) from Thompson or Hednricks. Really impressed with Hendricks especially. On a dead team that guy brings it shift after shift - rollpards19
agree.... no one and absolutely nada persona talked about 40 goals and Stals in the same sentence... |

i"m exaggerating about the 40. i just think he's another peter marsh & his agent thinks he's gonna get north of 3.5 mill a season. don't think SB will pay it. not with guys like dadenault & mcneil coming. better to wheel him into something we need for this team is all i'm sayin. he'll never be a guy like hartnall or leclaire was /is for philly! |

Saw a tweet back about a week ago. Hawks payroll if all had stayed would be something like 76 million and change. - Beaver-Warrior
Well, they were following the Detroit model. |

Hammer would have made about $1.5 mill if not for an offer sheet....he was at about $650,000 I believe.
Actually $1.3-5 is what I heard the Hawks had offered. - Al
you are correct Al, he completed the final year of his entry contract @ $660,000.
Wow...Wilson really did put the screws to the hwks with that deal. As well as he is playing this year....still 1 mil plus overpaid.
#4 should be very thankful to Wilson for that move! |

As much as we need a 2C I think a defensively sound 4C that's great on draws in more important. However Stan could address both needs in one deal with Washington for Ribiero and Hendricks. |

Agree and its probably a pipe dream until Bolland gets moved. 4th liner can even play wing because Krugs is so good defensively at center but so bad on draws. Another penalty killer would be nice, its pretty clear Q only has a lot of confidence in the top 4 right now |

Kruger can easily shift to wing on the fourth line, having Kruger - Hendricks - Frolik would be pretty damn sweet. Carcillo could be thrown in when needed. |

Why would you want to give away a very effective depth player when the hawks have a shot at making a run. Think about keeping stalberg as if trading for a rental player. Who cares if he is gone after this season, the hawks need him on that third line. |

Would love that bottom six in the playoffs. He would help the PK a ton. If bolland wakes up for the playoffs and we get a 4th line draw winner I like our chances |

I know its a long way off and not likely, but how fun would a pens hawks cup be? No cheap bs like the Bruins would pull, just great hockey. And I wanna see 19 beat 87 in a cup final |

Lately I noticed no shortage of knowledgeable Rockford Ice hog fans.
Yes. I too saw the Sunday game. Morin has 25 goals now but surely will be suspended for punching while standing in the bench seat area. His big chance for playing time may still come if Hayes is demoted. Which is fine if you are cheering for him. I believe he could be a an NHL scorer if he skated better. Just cannot see this happening given the speed preference in Chicago. Morin conceivably gets a look during Sharp's absense should Bowman choose to see Morin after Hayes goes back. We will see what Hayes brings to the lineup then after his demotion it will be Morin's turn. Same result but different style.
So what about Brad Mills. Possible depth player and or a black ace? He has NHL experience. He skates OK, big hustle, is not shy of physical play. My sample of Mills as an Icehog pales compared to others who see more AHL.
I may re post since JJ should soon have a game day preview |

The Penguins likely get mugged if they face off against the big bad Bruins. That is, "bad" as in misbehaving thugs. Last season minus Crosby the Bruins rolled over the team which was not as tough or strong as indicative of the steel town name. |

IIRC, Hawks screwed up with the (a) late offers, which cost about $3MM, (2) apparently not understanding that all of the ELC bonuses from 2010 would count against the next year's cap, and (III) the SJ offer sheet for #4.
After the Buff/Ladd deals (if my sequencing is correct), he said he was done - that they were now safely under the cap. Then, all of the sudden, Versteig was gone - like someone had just told him, no, you're not....
Why did they have so little time to get back under the cap? All of this happened before the draft. |

Add the $4.1M bonus carry-over from 09-10 to 10-11. The QO fiasco sure contributed and SB was arrogant in stating he wasn't afraid of an OS. The ELC's were already factored in the cap.
It's the bonus carry-over; Toews Conn Smythe, Kane top-10 scoring, etc that really, really hurt. |

Which (as I tried to note in my post) the FO didn't seem to realize WOULD count against the 10/11 cap. |

Wonder if we'll ever find out this detail. Heard Josh Mora knew of some of the behind the scene detail but allegedly he was let go from CSN for what he knew. That was just heresay but it does raise a question of someone from the station that covers the teams they're employed by being told to be quiet about certain things. |
