Feaster is probably dumb enough to do that too. Good luck getting Briere to waive to go to that wasteland tho. - hereticpride
Starts with an f, rhymes with puck, yourself! |

To Habs: Jbo,
To Calgary: Kaberle, Leblanc, Kristo - bulletbill
Take out Leblanc or Kristo and add Beaulieu, you have a deal. |

J-Bo, a 1st, and a 2nd for Couturier and Briere - JAKEw1234
No no and F no!! We don't need a Briere if we are looking at a retool, especially with us adding a 1st and 2nd. WE WON'T GIVE UP YOUNG ASSETS!! |

We are very far off, our management and coaching staff needs to go before we can even think about playoffs. And even if there this urge to make the playoffs now, that is mortgaging a huge huge part of a franchises future to maybe make the playoffs and have the chance to have all UFAs walk. - DDM-Coga
I remember before the season started. The Avs fans were all so cocky. They were all so confident that Colorado would be better then Calgary this season. |

Calgary =Toronto west.never admit that your team needs to rebuild.continue to play in the middle of the pack, miss the playoffs and screw the franchise out of yet another blue chipper.flames need to sell off iggy, kipper, jbo, cammy for prospects and picks in an attempt to restock the shelves.I also believe iggy would go win a cup which he deserves more than most players in the league, and then return to calgary to finish his career ala tchachuk.help the franchise and himself.feaster stop kidding yourself and your fans and rebuild for the good of the franchise.look at what edmonton is doin, in another couple of years they will be a force.take a hint. |

Unfort during a rebuild you shell out most of your most sellable assets keeping the youth behind. That is what shipping Iggy, Kipper and Jbo is doing, not holding on to a middle aged (yes 29 is middle aged in the NHL) player from an old system. - Pyzik
First of all, Calgary is not rebuilding. Secondly, if it did mean dumping 29+ year olds, they would also have to dump Glencross, Cammileri, Wideman, Giordano, Hudler, Stajun, Tanguay, etc... That is not going to happen, so why single out JBo just because he has one big dollar contract year left. If your argument is about rebuild or not, that is a different story, dump them all in that case. Otherwise, the flames have a year to extend him, if he wont take less then they can trade him as a rental player at next year's draft. |

That's hard to argue with. I think, though, if we retain some salary we would need a guaranteed 2nd. |

I know nothing about Spooner but he seems a decent mid level prospect. If you can get a decent prospect, Lucic, and Ference who is okay enough for a UFA and a guy no one wants, you gizz your pants and say yes. |

His cap hit is too much, which brings down his asking price. For Philly needs a puck moving defensemen for the future for example. But they are hardly going to give up prime youth for a overpaid guy who does not fit into their current structure.
Would you eat 2 mil of off J-Bo's Cap hit if it landed you Sean Couturier? or would you take a couple lesser pieces like Tye McGinn &/or Harry Z and no cap hit? If you are rebuliding with youth, you will probably have a lot more cap space than a team that was flush with high profile vets. Why not use that space to get Better Young players? |

That's the thing though, Ference if Ference is aUFA, why would we want that as part of the trade. I guess we could try to move him as well if we make the trade with enough time. |

So fine, mid level prospect, MILAN (frank)ING LUCIC, and a guy you flip for a 2nd rounder
for
a UFA you could just re-sign in July and a guy you want to get rid of.
How are you complaining about this in the slightest??? |

Oh, sorry. I guess we all just assumed you did because he has the 6th (?) highest cap hit in the league and is the 60th (?) best dman.......
The whole point of the blog is that you'd have to eat cap space to convince someone to take him off your hands. |

I believe the question on the blog header was "should they eat salary.....? We don't HAVE to convince anybody to take him. If you actually payed any attention to the hockey world, which you clearly do not, you would realize that there is a lot of interest in Jbo. And quite honestly, if the return isn't there, I have no problem keeping him. He has been great under Hartley's system. |
