I'd be open to a 1st and either Domoulin or Harrington

Maata, Morrow, Pouliot and Despres are off limits

I'd be open to acquiring Eric Fehr and Matt Hendricks as noted by TIOPS...

Fehr would be a big addition to line 3, scoring and size wise and Hendricks can actually fill the role Glass was supposed to do.

This kinda move must happen over and above a top 6 forward IMO

Those are cheap moves. Still think we could find better options but not for a lower price

Acquiring Iginla simultaneously improves the best first line in hockey and the third line should Dupuis be dropped there.

As for who would be given up in a trade, one would have to think that a defensive prospect and pick are guaranteed to go since Calgary will (FINALLY) be looking to rebuild. I have no idea who they would want from the current active roster, maybe Kennedy, Jeffrey, Niskanen, or Despres. I don't see the Pens moving anyone in their top 6 for this to happen.

- poochy13

We don't need to improve our first line. It scores; it dominates games. Why? Because of the chemistry formed. Yes, Crosby's talent has a major hand in it, but chemistry is a very important thing. Do Crosby and Kunitz gel with Iggy? That isn't a given. Why not just upgrade the third line and go from there. The cost would certainly be less and the person coming in might not be a rental.

I still think Iginla is the wrong way to go. Defense is what's needed here.

starting to hear #pens not as interested as dangling Despres as they were earlier in season. Also, price for Iginla way high

Hope the moron is right about Despres.

And of course the price for Iginla is high... we have over 2 weeks to go before the deadline.

I understand that chemistry is a fragile thing, and maybe the Pens fans don't want Iginla, but a lot of talk in here is painting Calgary as snake oil salesman for suggesting a fair trade for the most consistent goal scorer and best leader by far of the last decade.

The correct response is "We don't want Iginla if that's what he costs", not "Someone on the internet is trying to rip me off".

Fine, he can hit. He also has a 4.02 cap hit for the next three years and Calgary fans think the guy is worth three pieces. He isn't a rental, like Iggy.

If Calgary calls Shero and said Stempy and Giordano for a second, D prospect and the rights to TK, I might pull the trigger.

- Oneonta Penguin

I don't understand. You think the pens can lowball for Iggy because he IS a rental, but also think they can lowball for Gio because he ISN'T a rental?

Please clarify.

That was just a mess Anyway, Oneonta don't want Iginla. It's a matter of cost. I would love to have both but don't know how it would work out.

Fair points, but don't forget, any team interested in obtaining Iginla is not trading for the player he was the past 10+ years, they're paying for the player he is now. What he's accomplished in the past should not be taken into account by the buyer when preparing an offer.

True. That's why the price should be exponentially lower than what they expect to get in return.

I think we should try to get Kieth Yandel , solid defense and offense although the price may be to high

#TribHKY >> Iggy price: top 4 D prospect, roster player, and draft pick. For now, anyway. He has no movement clause

Unless you are 100% going to move Letang this summer, getting Yandel makes zero sense.

It amazes me that the coaching staff still doesn't want to admit that we already have an excellent D-partner for Letang on the current roster in Despres.

Although, I guess I really shouldn't be surprised at this point...

I DON'T like trading premium assets for strictly a rental. We don't need Iggy. We could possibly use a Gio if the price is right. If the price were equal, I take Giordano. He possibly helps offset a weakness. Then again, I hate his cap hit. I don't think Gio is worth the names or pieces being floated around. Not close.
