He can't help himself. The Timonen extension for six million was retarded. You forget the Simone Gagne reacquisition in the panic moves? - Oneonta Penguin
I didn't mind the Gagne trade. They only gave up a 4th right? They had some forward injuries, and Gagne is a known player to the organization. |

2 more straight losses and something will happen wether it's a trade or a coach change (Lindy Ruff) - Orpik44
I suspect that if they lose the back end of the pair against the Devils that Lava is toast. |

It will be nice seeing Bryzgalov bought out. Hilariously nice. - Deadstar
And I truly believe it will happen Briere is gone after this season as well. |

I don't get all the Iggy talk. Shero has a track record of not giving up key prospects for rentals. Yes, Hossa was an exception to this. Some of you guys need to remember that this is Iginla circa 2013 not 2003. I'd trade a first for Iggy, but not a first and a prospect. The larger point is those assets can be better used to acquire a top 4 defenseman. - Emperor Filonius
I would trade nothing for Iginla. I have 0 interest and I'm sure Shero doesn't either. This move makes absolutely no sense. Yeah, let's break up the best line in the NHL because that makes a lot of sense. It's absurd that people can't stop talking about this Iginla nonsense and actually blog about something that makes sense. |

Briere is a victim of his own contract. Even at this stage, he's a nice depth player and a clutch player. But man, $6.5 mil for the next two years is horrible.
Not only panic trades, but Holmgren signs the most asinine long term deals. |

He broke the best line in the NHL last year. And Bennett didn't look ready in his first few games. Things are falling into place now and to be honest, pretty much anyone with top 6 talent and that works hard can do well with Crosby or Malkin. |

Yes, lets please trade one of our future top 4 D men, plus a 1st for a player who will only play for 3 months at a position that needs no upgrade ... Are Flames fans the 45% who voted yes on that poll? |

One thing we know for sure: a top 6 Kunitz type will do wonders with Sid or Geno. But who would be that guy around the league? TJ Oshie?
Again, Bennett has been a pleasant surprise and is starting to get his feet wet, even playing hard on the boards and hitting a bit |

If they are going to buy him out, this is the year to do it. There are a few noteable free agents that could be upgrades. I wonder if they will go after Mike Smith in Phoenix. He too, like Bryzgalov, has benefitted from the Coyote system.
Briere will also be bought out IMO

To me Bennett looks the most impressive when he is throwing his body around. He has really caught my attention with some physical plays in the corners that have resulted in turnovers and wonderful scoring opportunities. |

Well didn't Bryz say if they lost both of these games to the Devils, they were done for the year? He is half way there.

That is basically all you need really. You don't need that big name that costs an arm and a leg. Two pieces like this would cost the same as an Iggy. I don't think Edmonton deals Smid though. He is their only competent blueliner there. |

Anyway,,, Iggy was not playing on a line with Sid, Dupes was. I think I could get 10 on Sid line. - bixll
If Iggy is still so good he shouldn't need a center of Crosby's calibre. |

But, Imagine if he did.
It matters not what the Pens do.. They will be there at the end. Do the fans here think that iggy would not help Sid's line, or you all want to save mario some ching.

If we can get Smid without giving up Niskanen I'd say do it. Bortuzzo+pick for him? Morrow can be had for a pick. |

Edmonton will want more than Bortuzzo and a second.

Briere can be traded more easily. He's owed little real money with the circumvention contract. |

Another important part to remember, that Penguins team had a ton of spare parts. Christensen, Armstrong, Esposito and a 1st. The prospects being talked about in Maata, Morrow, Pouliot, etc are much higher potential than those guys who were moved. |

He doesn't want to be traded with his kids in school there and everything. He has a NMC and IIRC, has said he wouln't waive it. |
