Iginla is a superstar. As much as I love him, Billy G was never everrr that. 100% not the same type of move at all. Do not get me WRONG i would not be mad if we got Iggy, we just do not need what he brings to the table and it has the potential of ruining out team mojo. He is that impactful of a player. Take that chance? Major Move or marginal tweek Ray will decide. Ask Rags fans what its like to have too many superstars. - nbartley9
Would I feel comfortable with our top 9 going forward, Yes, but just seeing it get stronger, deeper, and not taking away from what we have in place would be ideal. Above all though is the physical D and the 4th liner, given the disappointment of Glass. And the PK needs a swift kick in the ass.
Personally I love Iginla, and have always wanted to see what he would/could do here. Even if only for 3 months or so. Yes he and Billy G are not the same, but the situations the Pens would bring them in for are. Leadership, grit, and playing in the top 6, at this stage of their careers. That is what I was referring too. |

I wonder if Lav still disagrees with this comment regarding Crosby. - Oneonta Penguin
Not sure Lavi's going to be around to answer that much longer. |

He doesn't need to turn invisible against the Flyers. There defense play with their eyes cold. - Ben37
Of course their eyes are cold, it's an ice rink!

If we got iggy for a conditional 5th like we got BG for I'm all in. For maybe the 1st time I agree with you. I don't think we need to spend the assets to get him. The trickle down would improve the roster but the cost of just fixing the bottom 6 would be a lot less expensive. Duper has 13 goals no need for him to move. He works well with Crosby. I'm sure Iginla would be great too but if the cost is a stud prospect or Despres and a 1st just go get a 3rd line winger with 10-15 goal potential who takes the body. The cost will be much cheaper probably a 2nd max. I like the defense when the team focuses and he puts the right players in. Despres played a pretty physical game last night. Remember there isn't a team we will face that doesn't have holes. |

Both can go to be quite honest, along with Glass. Althought he played ok last night. Vitale is a good faceoff man but thats all he brings. |

wow
Vitale is probably the only guy I and 99% of this board wouldn't want to scratch from the 4th line. Interesting thought though. |

Despres did hit someone....Bylsma will fix that part of his game by benching him accordingly! |

It's a coinflip honestly. I get what you're saying. Vitale does seem like a better cut player for a 4th line role. He's got more grit than Jeffrey, but Jeffrey gives you some pop in his stick. The 4th line is definintely an issue that needs to be addressed though and I think Shero will make some adjustments there before the deadline |

Last season Vitale hit alot, won alot of faceoffs and played a very pesky aggrivating game. This season he is doing well in the circle. Thats why he sits in the box this year, i dont ever remember him being a healthy scratch last year. |

As of right now, Adams is the only guy in my book that I feel comfortable game in and game out on that 4th line. They are going to be crucial to our success in the playoffs, and I don't think Vitale, Jeffrey, or Glass are the right options there |

Agreed Adams is the man right now, its just not a good sign when he is your best 4th line player he should be your worst. |

I love the way Despres plays, this whole benching against physical teams thing is the bunk. He is one of our most physical Dmen. He pinches a bit too much but thats his game. He will learn that in time. |

I compare the potential Iginla stuff to when we got Billy Guerin....except at this stage of their respective careers, Iginla is way ahead of where Billy G was in terms of production. - ryman1566
The difference - Billy G was a third round pick. When you look at it, he was a bargain.

Thompson or Hendricks are the two targets I would put up there for a fourth line upgrade. Neither cost alot. |
