once again, with the missing the point.....
- Emperor Filonius

once again you failed to make a valid point. I don't get it I guess... nobody can tell me how aquiring iginla can possibly hurt this teams chances at a cup, but they insist I miss the point. SCORE!!!!!! SUPER POOPER DUPER!

the vast minority? the pole still says 45% agree with moving a prospect and pick for iginla... I do think a first, ideally a late one, and a top prospect, when we have so many, is not a bad price to pay for a cup. its a gamble for sure, but I'd give up three prospects and our 1st if it yielded a cup... thats what it is all about. I would love smid... whats he gonna cost? It's gonna be pretty high with the lack of top 4 d-men available a man who is also a FREAKIN RENTAL as you put it. smid's cost will be close to, though not as high, as iginlas. again, the pole suggests we are arguing from fairly equal ground. the team doesn't win poop if it aquires iginla... really...

Calgary fans are voting up the trade for Iggy. I haven't seen too many on this board voice that trading for Iggy is the right thing to do. They realize we need to have upgrades elsewhere.

A late first could bring a kid like Ryan Hartman to Pittsburgh. I don't want to give that chance up for a rental we don't need. We could use a good forward prospect in the system since the only one we have is up.

I'm with you, man. The history books should show that the Crosby/Malkin Era Pens were just as dominate as the 90's Red Wings. Since we won the cup all we have done is disappoint in the postseason. If we don't make it to the Finals this year I will be disappointed. What is the point in holding so desperately tightly to our future when we can kick some major butt in the present? What we do at the deadline this year will directly impact our legacy. Let's win the Cup. It's not like we're going to be Columbus in three years if we trade away a few prospects/picks.

yeah... Calgary fans... the fans that overwhelmingly want to keep the face of their team. nice try. Most people on this board huh. so no chance that the people who think its a good idea just don't feel the need to defend there position? they understand the obvious bonus of having a person like iginla on their team. This collection of armchair gm's (including me!) is hardly a cross section of pens fans. listen to sports talk, read other hockey writers, and talk to fans from around the city and then you'll see who the overwhelming majority want to see on the team.

Not sure about that chief. They realize their organization is a mess; can't compete for a play-off spot; is a rather veteran roster and they have THE WORST FARM SYSTEM IN THE NHL. Jay Feaster's job is on the line and what he does at the deadline makes or breaks him and the organization for years. They have pieces that they can deal to get prospects and valuable picks in a deep draft. Calgary fans want Iggy to win a Cup before he retires and they know its not happening in Calgary and that is why they want him moved to a Pittsburgh or a Boston.
