But, Imagine if he did.
It matters not what the Pens do.. They will be there at the end. Do the fans here think that iggy would not help Sid's line, or you all want to save mario some ching. - bixll
very good. we have the surplus of assets to make a big move to help solidify our chance at the cup... whether its a forward or a d-man, shero should absolutely do everything he can to upgrade this team. we are reasonably healthy.. go for it. those that don;t think iginla could help should see last years debacle. the lack of leadership was pathetic. I am a HUGE Crosby fan but he proved he needed a veteran leader to help him after his childish game where he shot the glove arcoss the ice as told the media "we dont like them" boohoo. Iginla fills a void guerin left. or alfredson... or a vet d-man. I don't care... but the team as it is is not equipped to win. We will fall the same way we did last year. people on this site a sounding like the people on the oilers blog. "one more young kid, lets see who we get at the draft" we as pens fans should be so past that. |

well... don;t know what to say... if you don't think 110 goals is better than 100 goals then I can't think about anyway to debate anymore. mmmnnnnnn......... - ChrisMS
The bottom 6 has combined for 20 goals out of 100. That includes Sutter, Cooke, Kennedy, Jeffrey, Adams, Vitale, Glass.
You could make the argument that most of Sutter's 8 goals have been in a top 6 capacity.
Perhaps you precious 10 goals could be found with better bottom 6 offense. |

see above not to gunner staal. You have it very wrong. I don't care if we win scoring 1 goals or 8 goals... but the odds of winning when you score 8 would seem to be a lot better. - ChrisMS
I would be happiest if the team consistently scored 8 and only gave up 1. |

I think the precious was supposed to be sarcastic... but how many games could 10 goals win? especially playoff games? If someone one wants to debate that if we had to choose and shero gets a better deal for a d-man than by all means... but to say a move to improve our offense is a bad idea is inane. I would love to exchange jeffrey, glass for better players... maybe even TK... but unless something is dramatically different this year, we need a vet winger to help stabilize the leadership.. sure wish we could get one for a 3rd round pick |

Penguins led the playoffs with 4.33 goals per game last year. A full .6 better than the next team. Worked out great. |

One of the great misconceptions is that EVERY offensive player must be an elite scorer. In todays salary cap world the blueline and defense is as or frankly more important than an offensive juggernaut. The bottom two lines need to chip in but they must take possesion of the puck so the scoring glory boys don't have to worry about coming from behind. So long as the bottom six are spending more time in their zone and not ours, I'm happy. |

That's almost 2 more goals per game in a 6 game series. Please try to be at least a bit realistic.
You'd have to be blind to have watched that series last year and not recognized that the problems stemmed from a lousy PK, porous defense, lack of discipline, and leaky goaltending. Scoring was not the problem. Jersey didn't have anywhere close to the Pens firepower and they wiped the ice with the Flyers. |

ok.... but are you saying that if our scoring hadn't been better than we wouldn't have a better chance to win? I am only saying that any chance to improve our team should be looked at even if its an area of strength. improve the d? great do it. improve the goaltending... we tried... juries still out... the pk? juries still out, but I'm certainly not comfortable... discipline? obviously not after watching the flyers games this year. I'll take more scoring if it helps overcome those areas |

The scoring was and is at the best rate in the league yet they were still out in the 1st round.
Your expectations are beyond unrealistic and quite frankly not worth addressing past this post. |

You still were unable to say how scoring more goals would be a bad thing... disappointing thats how you chose to get out of the corner you were in but no hard feelings... I've tried to defend undefendable points in the past myself. |
