He gets minutes because he's on the top line.
He's on the top line because there isn't a piece that fits in there better right now, unfortunately. - Leeman4Gilmour
So then if he's that bad that's all the ice he should get if there are no other options at 1c.

agreed. Not remotely close to good enough defensively to be a shutdown. - burn
I will give him the benefit of the doubt and suggest that since he really hasn't been asked to play a pure checking line role, he could find his place there in time.
His defense isn't brilliant, but he does a few things well that go unsung. He doesn't stick out like a sore thumb, anyway. |

Because the top line gets the most minutes. Bozak is top line by default. Bozak also gets a few extra shifts to take face-offs. That's the last time. |

He's got Florida overpayment written all over him. - The Law
I predict this will be the offseason that defines Bozak's entire career.
He will either sign a reasonable deal (2.75-3 million per year) and slowly earn his worth while keeping fans content with him, or he will jump into a huge deal in some crappy market and lose any recognition in the league except as "that guy with the unmovable contract."
If he goes with option 1, he may carve out a name for himself as a decent, hard working third line center. He may even get a little raise in 3-4 years when this next deal runs out.
If he goes with the big money, then in 3 or 4 years when his contract expires, he will be lucky to get league minimum and will end up in Europe or something.
Perception is so important in the salary cap world. |

I'll type this slow for you.
Bozak is the default 1c bc A) Grabovski is our shutdown guy and B) Kadri is playing protected mnutes.
So fine Bozak plays 1c by default and plays 1st PP because???
And plays on the PK because???? |

He's poop on defense too, save for the draw. That might be enough though. I think at the end of the day, we still need that number 1 center. With a legit, big bodied center, everything falls into place and we move some unneeded pieces at the deadline (MacArthur, Bozak, maybe even Grabovski), build a proper 3rd checking line with McClement and somebody else dynamite on the draw with Kulemin on the wing as a tweener filling in top 6.
Or maybe we move Kessel and our leftover pieces for a legit #1 center and move Lupul to his natural wing and keep JVR on the left. - gravyface
If it's Kessel, than I want a Logan Couture or a Sean Couturier. Fuk Paul Stastny if it's for Kessel. |

I think you could probably get Stastny for a defenseman and a pick. They're broke and he's overpaid. |

And this is relevant to offensive skill how? (As was addressed earlier, he's on the 1st pp unit for his face-offs to get the puck to the skill players) |

And as I said last year Steckel was but was he on the 1PP? Your problem is is that Carlyle see's him a lot different. |

I'd so that for Stastny, he'd certainly be an upgrade as a #1 center. What happens to Bozak if they do that? |

Right on cue. Because Bozak is better offensively than Steckel, while still being good at taking a faceoff. Next. |
