Franson has been arguably our best defender this season, ive never female doged about him once this season - Mapleleafs_91
right... cause he hasn't been out agains top line for a single shift this season.
If he played 3 games with Phaneuf, by the 4th game, you'd be in here telling us how much he sucks.

57 GP, 16+ mins.
if we use your criteria, Leafs only had 3 D-men last year... yippity (frank) leading 3 guys in +/-, both of whom played more mins.
And he was still -2. so again, yippity (frank) - Big_Lightnin
You are taking this way too seriously. Franson barely played last year, FFS Komisarek played more than him. |

Been a long time Kadri fan. I thought he actually earned a spot with this team two years ago playing on the third line and doing well---so that's moot.
Gardiner was great last year for spurts, and was clearly not up to par in others. That's what happens with 21 year old d-men. He's not in the AHL because he wasn't good enough to make this team, he's there because he was hurt and others grabbed onto the opportunity. Now we're seeing those others falter a little bit, the pendulum swings. - mykokes
I'm just not convinced. I think Carlyle has seen enough of his game over the years and doesn't like what he see's. My bet is you'll see Lupul back on the other wing as well. He's terrible in his own end on his off wing.

Actually i wouldn't. Last year the pairing of Gunner and Phaneuf was decent because Gunner was the only pairing that could play with phaneuf, to bail him out.
If franson can do the same, which so far looked half decent, better than the holzer or kostka pairing, then good on them |

Phaneuf belongs on the LD, not the RD. Phaneuf misses 90 percent of his shots on the RD, at least carlyle knows that unlike wilson
But the fact that carlyle uses this tactic for all 3 pairings when there is better players to be played, is beyond stupid.
2/3 pairing can have both a LD/RD, your telling me one pairing cant have both LD/LD, give me a break - Mapleleafs_91
He misses shots from both sides of the ice. I was also quoting someone else not makinga specific reference to the wing Phaneuf belongs on. |

Yeah but he has more of a chance for the puck going on net on the LD, then RD |

not really...
you said something wrong, I pointed that out. you said something else wrong, I pointed that out.
Now you've gone and said something else wrong... sigh.
Komi played 45 games, Franson played 57. Komi averaged 29 secs per game more, in 12 fewer games.

The guy plays in the NHL.. how is this even a concern? If he can't hit the net from one side of the ice then there's something wrong with him. |

The fact that, we are in a 3 game losing slump, is called for a change. And if that means playing scrivens or putting in one or two guys of liles, komi, gardiner. You do it. Guys like holzer or kostka dont have to play every single game, its not written in stone |

I didn't say anything worng, I said exactly what I wanted to. Komi average more TOI than Franson.
Franson was a -1 D-man in 56GP at ~16min per night against the other teams weakest players. Woop dee freaking doo. Gardiner averaged +20min per night and was -2 against the other teams best players. |

TSN is talking up a Ducks trade to the Leafs....... Not sure if i like it or not
To the Leafs........... Corey Perry
To the Ducks............ Kessel and Gardiner.
It would be a sign and trade proposal of approx. 8 years for 72 million. |
