OK. Trade for Gagner and Flames eat 1mm yr salary.
Innings eater. Worth 5.8

i think that would be a great deal for both.....oilers can either draft a center in the 1st this year to replace gagner, or trade the pick to get one.

I completely disagree with landeskog being a better player. That's just not true at all. Is more physical/physically developed, absolutely. As for talent, creativity, scoring touch(not exactly a good year) he's better. I was being sarcastic when I brought up that trip and fall, as I believe he's a terrific player.
- JShack

i said RNH was better offensively....however, landeskog is also very good offensively, but brings everything else too.

I think edmonton made the right choice, they needed a center. had the sens had the pick (and i was the gm), already have a top line center, i would have taken landeskog.

just as comparables.....i'd say RNH is like a spezza type player. incredibly gifted offensively, but weak in a lot of other aspects (atleast early in his career)

i'd say landeskog is similar to toews.....not as naturally gifted offensively, but still incredibly good, however EXCELS in pretty much every other aspect.

come on now, landeskog is EXACTLY the type of player you guys need on your team. the oilers needed RNH based on the fact that he's a center, but i'm not convinced that he's the better player. perhaps a little more offense, but landeskog is a much better overall player.
- sensarmy_11

Wow. They're different players. Gotta give it at least a few years.

And yes, we do need a Landeskog for sure, no debating that.

Don't forget, RNH runs away with the Calder if he doesn't get hurt. I hate those "ifs" but it's certainly a point to make their ceilings equal.

Yes you did.

But I think RNH's defensive game is underrated. I think he's pretty solid in his own end, especially considering is inferior size. He's great position ally and has a good stick. Just needs size and to improve on faceoffs

19 year old playing against the other best centers or best shutdown centers every night.

This is why Horcoff helps so much right now. It's really too bad he got hurt for that long - we may have a couple more wins right now which is absolutely huge.

for sure give it a few years.....i'm just talking RIGHT NOW

Like i said in my previous post, i can see RNH's career evolving in much the same way spezza's did (although spezza had the benefit of starting on a much better team, so he was sheltered more). both are incredibly gifted offensively, however other aspects of their game isn't that great. spezza has finally turned into a great all around player, but it took a few years, and he had to work his ass off to build those other aspects of his game. i can see RNH evolving in much the same way.

Ah I see. I'll take that projection all day.

And exactly, it could take RNH a good five/six years to become the draft day vision.

He needs to put on some (frank)ing muscle. Not so much for battling and ish but so he's got more cushioning when he gets hit.

He also needs to be traded.

just for fun......i think a trade with anaheim, centering around RNH and getzlaf could have been interesting. definitely not a 1 for 1 trade, but getzlaf is still young, and is a big power center....and anaheim gets the cap space they'd need to sign perry, without much of an immediate dropoff.

It would suck to give up gagner and I don't think the Oil care too much about Bouw's cap hit. They're not in tough next off season to re-sign Nuge, and by the off-season after that Bouw and horc could be re-signed for less.

That being said if they want to take cap off by all means

I might be naive but I think there could be a way to grab Bouw and Hartnell (if he was willing to waive) via Hemsky, picks (realize it might take several 1sts), prospects, and players like PRV/Harti/Jones etc. If that's the case though, we've just proved that six or seven guys here could do Tambs' job

getzlaf contract is a massive sucker and i don't think edm wants any part to do with it. but just for fun...if washington ever wanted to do a big swap, i consider a block buster massive swap of bodies.

i don't think edm will give rnh anymore than $6m per year for his first contract, esp on his current stats.
