I'll take Howson over King any day...I agree with you - Ken King needs to go - I think all Flames fans have known that for a long time... - Yobble
It'll be the first exec trade including a 1st.
I have finally surmised, the only thing keeping Calgary from being the new Clippers of professional sports is the Isles........actually, no, they are better.
We are f-ed until he leaves. Gawdawful. |

Rich,
I read your column for its comedic value. Hey, I'm a long suffering Flyers fan so I appreciate the comedy from a cynical side. Just had to say, today you outdid yourself! I was sitting down to dinner reading your interpretation of Steve Tamblini's view on trades and nearly choked from laughing!! Keep up the good work and Thank You!!! |

Can never have too many suits at the draft. That first overall is always the hardest to make. Everyone knows the biggest problem the Oilers face is scouting and drafting, so this makes a lot of sense. - systemtool
But seriously it's really a low impact move. |

Pens hired Waddell for a scouting position. Agree with richard on this one, good move to bring experienced guys like howsen so long as he's no the head honcho. |

Yeah, I hear they need the kind of cap relief that only dealing Schenn, Couturier and Simmonds can solve. |

They need to trade Hartnell, Timmonen and Briere.
You ask me, Hartnell is the perfect Oil player. A Ryan Smyth type, when he was relevant. '
That's what the kids need for the next step. Not another lottery pick. |

Maybe Howson can help us poach some of the good up and coming Columbus players (ie. Glencross). |

Yep, and to FLFlames point there really could be something there if they miss the playoffs...
Do they have interest in a Hemsky and our 1st though?
Time will tell. Redundantly, in fact.
Do you do Hartnell for Gagner? |

looks good. But it's not like a guy like that is cheap. I'm not sure we can get a deal like that done with picks and prospects. Especially if we're also on the prowl for an impact dman. What can't wait more: d help or forward help? |

Or when Sabbatical Steve's garbage pail kid card gets tossed followed by MacTavish deciding to pursue a PHD we'll have Howson ready and waiting for the next rebuild.

Perhaps reluctantly. It sucks to turf guys that truly want to be here. I don't think Philly does that though anyways. A) I'd bet they can scrounge up a bigger return and b) With schenn and couts in the offing I don't think they need another centre. |
