I bet the asking price for Clowe or Clarkson would be either Nino or a 3rd rd pick...
- kear20

I don't think Strome is the answer at wing on the 1st line. We need a physical banger who can also create opportunities. 'Physical' and 'Banger' are not two terms we'll hear in regards to Strome. He's an elite skilled puck mover with great offensive skill. That first line needs a power forward.
- keaner17

Agreed...that's why a trade for Clarkson or Clowe would be a good pickup...

You're allowed...

But you must follow it up with facts...

I think if Nino would have just kept his mouth shut this year, and concentrate on getting better... it would help him out greatly.

I understand he is a kid... but somebody needs to help put this kid's head on straight!!!

(frank) that...clowe has 8 assist in 22 games..if nino was the asking price i'd fall off my chair laughing...also both him and Clarkson are UFA's..no way your moving a top chip for a rental

They wouldn't be bad choices, but I'd rather go the Free Agency route when considering what guys like that may cost. I'm also trying to be a realist here in knowing that the UFA class in 2014-15 is going to be one of the best in recent memory. Given the fact of how close it will be to the big move, I think that will be the bullseye period for big changes. Until then, I think Nino is your most likely choice for the first line next year.

Would you take Perry for 8 yrs @ 8 million/yr?
- jimmc7722

I think the max length they can offer him per the new cba is 7 years...i'd offer him 7 for 63 million...I would do it..i think the isles will kick his tires..the question is where does perry want to play...its his choice

I disagree...I don't think Nino is a top chip...if they are going to trade a prospect, he's the one...I don't think Snow and Capuano like him...

im not saying his attitude didnt hurt his value to some (minor) extent and raise a (little) red flag to other teams interested in him, but i CANNOT image that totally overshadows his undeniable talent, making him value-less at this point. seems a bit dramatic.

i agree...i wouldnt trade nino unless clowe signed a long term deal even that id be hesistant but id be ok with it. if its just a rental, its a terrible deal.

what are we renting players for? they arent making the playoffs.

well that's fine but my point is you can get hell of a lot more than two guys heading to free agency

even if clowe signed a deal.. I would not trade nino for him..he has more value...you can change attitude and work ethic..you cant change size and hands...he has both...

i understand your point...i think clowe would excel on JTs line, hes put up 57 and 62 pts since 2009-10 season and he definitely has the size, more than nino.

I don't think it effected his value at all. If it were any other franchise you could make that arguement perhaps but we're the New York Friggin' Islanders. Other GM's expect the worst to happen here.

That said, unless the Isles feel at this point that Nino will definitely not become the player they anticipated, there's no reason to even slightly entertain the idea of dealing him. Big talented kids who can skate are a major commodity in the NHL and unless we're receiving a player near Nino's estimated ceiling, there's no reason to consider it.

Okposo has a ton of value contract wise. Maybe another coach can get him to change his game a little bit and get more out of him. Besides, if Perry is just a rental, why would anyone give up more than 1 or 2 assests.

As for Columbus, if they can take that poop deal they did for Nash, then what we're offering is a dream!

And, did you really just call Hamonic our BEST defensemen?!?! Are you insane?!?!? First of all, that's like being the tallest midget in a room. Our defense is terrible, himself included. He never knows where the puck is, can't move anyone from in front of the net, oh and is a -13, 2nd worst to his partner MacDonald. You obviously do not watch any games.

- Save_Us_John

Kyle Okposo sucks. He's crap. He has no trade value. Paying $3M/year for a guy who does s**t on the ice? That's value "contract-wise"?

And Who's a better d-man on the Isles than Hamonic? If you're going to call me insane for saying that Hamonic is our best d-man, then at least tell me who's better than him.

Actually, if you read, it would be getting rid of Nielsen, Bailey, Okposo, Reasoner (if anyone wanted him), Hamonic, Nilsson, and some draft picks thrown in. If Perry is a rental, you're not giving Anaheim much in the player sense. Sending guys like Okposo, Bailey, Hamonic, and Nilsson with picks could sure as hell get Tyutin and Johnson. Supposedly the Penguins are close to getting Johnson for 2 prospects and a pick. We would be offering better than that.

And where the hell do you people get your information from?! Visnovsky may not want to be here, but he must be here for the rest of the season at least because he family just moved back with him this week. And as for Streit, he went to the Islanders about extending his contract for the rest of his career. Who said his demands were high?! Supposedly, they're close to extending Nabokov and Streit. Those aren't even from rumor sources like this crap. That's straight from reporters that actually speak to Snow.

- Save_Us_John

Why would you trade prospects away to rent Corey Perry? What's the point? the isles aren't even in the playoff picture and you want them to trade away prospects or picks (or worse: players) for a guy who is gone July 1? If the Isles were a cup contender, it would be one thing. The Isles aren't even a lock to get into the playoffs.
