Hemsky ISN'T worth a D prospect from Pittsburgh. Stop with the utter non sense. It gets old. Pittsburgh has no interest in Hemsky and his 5 million cap hit for next year and his inability to stay healthy. - Oneonta Penguin
I'm tired of your gaybage "Oneonta"
Hemsky IS worth a solid D prospect.
You could be correct: Pitt may not have any interest and that's fine but he is worth a good D prospect.

the Oilers should be in buying mode regardless. how many more picks and prospects can they accumulate? at some point the focus needs to be on players who can help them win now. - DoubleDown
Exactly. They need a GM who doesn't believe his only job is showing up for the draft.

He will probably be a point a game player when he matures. Hard to find at the NHL level.
Think he needs to add some beef. - Rang
He's built like Kadri, which means he'll likely never reach 200lb, even with proper training. That said, he'll need to start playing with aggression, even if he is undersized, to avoid being thrown around by defensemen and giving himself more scoring chances. |

Yep - any pick they get has to be available for a package down the road.

LOL, I was an Oilers fan,,,, and still am somewhat but, the way management has ruined the organization and continue to do so what do you want me to say. Now I enjoy watching the CBJ`s, Leafs, Philly and Boston. So what, least they don`t Tank as a way to build their teams. You should watch, it`s refreshing to see organizations wanting to win and wheeling and dealing to build contenders instead of losing and sitting on their arses doing nothing to come in last every year. - cdjaakkola

To me the stigma in Edmonton is to buy good vets to fill out the team. Too bad Ryder went back to the Habs, I believe we would have been a good fit in EDM.
Otherwise, Stafford is another interesting option. Along with guys like Weiss or Morrow in the offseason. |

He's done a piss poor job with bringing in the right vets - that is what he must be held accountable for at this juncture.

The Oilers seem to think there's interest in Hemsky. People not from the Oilers seem to think there's interest in Hemsky too. - Maxbone
Hemsky can be the difference between a cup and a cup of bitter remorse for any playoff team this season. |

Dotn even bother. Some of the Pens fans on here are even bigger homers than their pbp guys. Ironic considering half of them have only been following hockey since 2005.
(frank)in people around here. Hemsky would undoubtedly help a lot of teams out at forward and to these (frank)in mouth breathers suggesting hes worth a 4th or whatever give your addled heads a shake. I remember quite well our boards being trolled telling us Penner would get no more than a 4th and even Pierre Faguire said it and look what happened. Hemsky has term left....lol yeah a whole whopping year. What an albatross contract! God theres some stupid people around here. |

My God you're being foolish! Look at all the trades that have taken place this year; which of them have had top-half roster players or top prospects from either side being traded? Yeah, that's what I thought. The Oilers may not have a butt-load of high-quality depth talent, but they have a few players that could bring in a solid return. What other team's players did he mention that had significant value that really made you scoff or did you- like a deal of others- forget how to read? - MaximumBone
Okay Mr. Alter ego, what is the point of moving the depth players you DO have for similar or same depth players? Makes no sense, this team doesn't get better by swapping depth for depth. It gets better by selling off a commodity for multiple depth players and possibly picks. So yes, clearly I'm the dumb one. |

i agree. just look at how many players have excelled playing on different teams. we all know what hes done in edm with shyte. he can only do better playing on a contender. for which thed have to pay for it. im not sold on a first, but who knows. player and a 2nd? |

Hopefully somebody want Belanger's D and faceoff depth for a young banger prospect.

In all seriousness, what about Liles & Komi from the Leafs...Liles is a great puck moving d-man, but has been found on the outside of the top6 looking in...both of these guys could be had for mid-round picks, and would be upgrades on the Oilers pathetic defence corps... |

People have always pointed to his goal totals and it flummoxes me that after all this team people STILL dont seem to realize that hes a pass first playmaker. |

Liles would be your best puck moving d-man, outside of possibly JShultz...

I'm starting to understand why you spend so much time in here. It must be tough cheering for a team with like five fans. That and the fact that homosexuality is frowned upon in Minnesota. |

For me Bags, Whits and Smyth can all go. Whits will be gone anyways so make sure we at least get something for him. Havent liked Belanger much his whole time here. Does what hes supposed to do but just something about him. Smyth is done and seems to think hes still a top line guy. |
