Morrow is a more offensively-talented player and doesn't take some of the dumb penalties Ott sometimes does (a truth, not a criticism).

Ott is so much better than Horcoff. Probably the worst captain in the NHL.

JovoCop is a somewhat-physical, aging, slow, veteran defenseman. Ott is a physical, mid-career, medium speed, veteran forward.

Salvador is like JovoCop, but was never a budding superstar.

Ladd is like Morrow, but better right now.

Vacant is better than Horcoff.

I was wondering the same thing....These are generally the same bunch of guys that alternated the captaincy a few years ago. Their current standing in the league is indicative of their leadership skills. You want a lead by example guy? Vanek sure shows a lot of emotion when he misses a shot at a goal. You want a nice fella? Pommer's your guy. You want the guy that sticks up for teammates? Kaleta and Ott can be the Briere and Drury of 2013 (Hell, based on his track record of standing up for teammates, Mike Weber should be wearing the C.) You want someone to call the team out? Ryan Miller --but we all know a goalie isn't getting the C. Although there may be a few that are capable eventually, today there is not one person on this team that is leader enough to wear that C.

Difference is the on ice antics that Ott does/brings. Plus the questionable runs he's taken at players. You name Ott captain, Ott has to change his game, and you dont want him doing that
