Nothing against Engelland, I think he's a very serviceable player (especially when considering his salary & cap hit). That being said, he should never be in the line-up over Despres. Despres plays with arguably as much physicality while providing much more from an offensive/puck-moving standpoint. To be honest, Engelland's fighting ability should never come into play when deciding between defensemen, it's an extremely overvalued and overrated attribute of a hockey player.

I agree. Assuming that Despres isn't hurt/being traded ( ), I would have liked to see Engelland scratched. Eaton played well the other night and deserves a few more starts.

To continue my mini-rant...

At this point, don't you have to be somewhat concerned for the future development of our talent (including our young defensemen)? Based on the current and past handling of our prospects, I'm not convinced our coaching staff has the ability to truly develop our talent to ensure they reach their full potential.

So potentially a very minor injury for Despres at the morning skate with no update on his status for tonight.

What a convenient excuse now to scratch him...

Apparently Despres sustained a very minor injury during skate. Not sure what his status is tonight.

You guys definitely outplay us in our barn. I'll be surprised if the Pens don't win this pretty easily ... something like 5 - 2, considering how horrendous our defense has been.

Still, even if it's a lopsided game, I somehow suspect that it will also be on the wild side, with plenty of fights, questionable hits, and AHL-level goaltending on display.

With your expert analysis, it's truly amazing that you are not hosting NHL tonight...or at least working for ESPN.

Not sure of the score, but a few definities:

Scott Hartnell will give a lock of his hair to Adams in the pregame skate so that Adams doesn't try to pull some out later in the game.

Zac Rinaldo will get suspended by jumping into a Pens' players head long after said player has passed the puck. In his hearing, Rinaldo will defend himself by claiming to be "trying to get around a teammate."

Sidney Crosby will put on an awesome display of stick handling and skate through every Flyers player...unfortunately for him, he will be doing it with Voracek's glove, not the puck.

Peter Laviolette will begin yelling at Dan Bylsma. This time, instead of holding him back, Craig Berube will turn green, rip off his shirt, pick the glass partition up out of its fastener's, and throw it at Bylsma. It will miss, and will decapitate Tomas Vokoun. In his post-game press conference, Bylsma will thank Mr. Berube for silencing any goalie controversy.

But will the Best in the World show up to play, or will he be stuck at another Nickleback concert shooting a T-shirt gun?? Maybe he will just sleep with Hartnell's wife like so many of the rest of his team has??

Your forgot to add:

Matt Cooke, protecting his coach, will use his ninja assassin skills to slice Berube's throat with his skate, making it look like a clean hit.

The Ultimate Warrior will come out of the stands and hit Hartnell from behind with a steel chair.

Giroux will hold a press conference after the game, complaining that Voracek's glove will need surgery because of Crosby's "stickhandling"

Thoughts on playing 7 D and scratching Glass? Despres-Letang Orpik-Martin Eaton-Niskanen with Engelland rotating in. Double shift Crosby/Malkin/Sutter with the 4th line. They did that a bit in the Cup run in 09.

I'm not sure what commercials they see in Pitt, but nobody should make fun of Nickleback if they like Pitbull, Bud Light...Miller Light, Coors Light, etc.
