excellent post. when I saw the replay it was a blatant slew foot from Okposo. No need for that. Stupid penalty. Teams make their own bounces by outworking their opponents. Something I felt the Isles didn't do enough of yesterday.
- Isles316

I've looked at that replay a couple of times now and while his foot unquestionable goes forward and hit the player, it had NOTHING to do with that player going down.

Boyes is amazing on the first line. His skill and hands is exactly what we needed on that line with JT. Great signing by Snow. Amac is a great defenseman and paid to score goals. His lapses are so timely and Hamonic will be a top notch defenseman. Snow is a God. Lets Go Islanders

Initially kind of amusing but now this is getting almost as tired as the PA jokes. As a fellow member I thought you should now.

The score was 1-0.. and I understood why he turned it down at that time. did not want to shift momentum, but next time on the ice Neil burried 4 guys and assisted on a goal. Then he called out McDonald and Hickey... that is when you drop the damm gloves.
- niteislander

So Neil went to plan "B" like I said in my post.

Amac has been God awful and i hate to say it Hamonic has been bad. Brad Boyes is a pretty consistently bad player with a decent game thrown in oocaisionally. If you think Boyes is a good player than you're not watching closely enough or as usual you need to take your homer glasses off. the only reason you constantly defend the Boyes signing is because you are have a boner for Snow.
- Cptmjl

Boyes is a bit of an enigma. He shocked the hell out of me early yesterday but making a nice in/out move on a defender and actually had some acceleration on it. I looked at my wife and said "Where the hell as that been all year".
I become very worried about players who seem to find an extra gear on occasion as it insinuates they aren't giving everything all the time. He has good hands and a nice shot, but seems to rarely put himself in the right place at the right time. Okay skills, bad instincts maybe.

I think that's actually a good description. Too many completely bone headed passes which would explain the bad instincts though there are times when he does make a good pass? Then followed by 5 horrible ones right on a defender's stick. I know which play you are referring too btw and thought the same thing. That made my opinion of him all the more negative. Can't stand players that don't give it their all, this team has too many of those on most nights.

It really is amazing. That was not a bad call it was the right call. Kyle Slew footed that guy with 2 Mins to play. Its nice to get 2 points in OT but 2 points in regulation is how you gain ground in the standings.

Especially since we get so many more bad bounces. Do the blackhawks complain about playing 3 games in 4 nights. No the won all 3 of them.
Does Quenville specialize in getting LUCKY BOUNCES for his team?

Maybe Hamonic shoud be used in front of the net on PP. Turns out he is good at Deflecting pucks into the net. LOL.

And no question Ullstrom, Martin and Finley were being way too physical. If you want to gain ICE time just do what KO does. Thats how you get rewarded. The fact that KO played in OT says it all.

- Spartiarti

Especially after he watched Phaneuf skate by him for the winning OT goal without so much as a stick check. IF Jack were worth his weight in marinara sauce, he'd keep the defensive liabilities off the ice in OT. And if he's tired of answering questions about the home record, he should work on finding ways to win and stop blaming bad bounces, refs, el nino, etc for the horrible home record.

To that note: Grabner should start shooting from 15 feet out anytime he has t he puck. - he seems to be able to put it on net from that range.

Look how long it took to get rid of Tamby and DP.

KO is in the infantile stages of STINKING up the ice.

In Islander land. KO has another yr or two before anyone in the organization even notices that he's a liability.

It was sort of a Kvasha moment. I know they claim that Boyes was signed under the recommendation of Doug Weight, who played with him and thought he was immensely skilled. I don't think he's a good match for that line since Moulson already is rather slow on his feet. We need a big body with speed not another slow-ish guy who depends on the puck finding him. He might be better suited to play with Grabs and Cizikas...I dunno.

not including the childish name calling, i agree with that...the past 3 games boyes has been bad; and believe it or not, i starting the bashing on amac and hamonic even before you did. (i know hard to believe).....

but thats not my point, what do all of those players have in common? (hamonic, amac, boyes, moulson, streit, jt)???

THEY PLAY THE MOST MINUTES ON THE TEAM....+/- means NOTHING!!

The Hamonic/Amac pairing is AWFUL. Look, typically a defensemen takes longer to mature in the NHL. It simply takes longer to learn to react to transition and find your man. Because he was so good in his rookie year, everyone forgets that Hamonic is still early in those developmental stages. Pairing him with a physically challenged player like AMac is a BAD move. I'd much rather see Martinek on the ice at this point than AMAC.

I think the biggest sin this organization commits from a culture aspect (and I blame Wang) is this loyalist approach to never punishing guys who are seen as the owners pet. Amac and Okposo are two of those guys, as was DP and Yashin. Utlimately, Amac is a marginal NHL player who shouldn't be playing more than 8-10 minutes a night at best. Certainly shouldn't be paired with a 22 year old dman who's just learning how to play in this league.

I know people say Grabner and Tavares don't work well together because they didn't light league on fire in the very limited time they were on each other's line last season, but I think this year's Grabner would have a lot of success there. Grabner demands some attention, and if you're keeping an eye on him, it's one less eye on Tavares. The neutral zone wouldn't be a comedy for that line either. It's painful watching all the ways Moulson and Boyes try to come up with to make the play everyone knows is coming...give the puck to Tavares so he can carry it up ice.

By adding Grabs to that line, I still think the problem ultimately becomes a lack of physicality. I agree that Grabs would be 'better' than Boyes on that line, but I think we have to find a more physical battler who also happens to carry some speed and finishing ability. Grabs has two of those three so he's certainly a better choice than Boyes, but I'd really like to see us put someone like Ulstrom on that line. He's shown decent tenacity in the corners and an ability to get a quick release on the puck. He probably needs to improve his passing though.
