Would have been nice to keep him, I thought Garrison was a nice upgrade.

Not trolling, just posting an honest opinion that might be tough for some of you to swallow...

Looking at that list is somewhat surprising. Judging by what Gillis has brought in in terms of forwards, it appears that Gillis is leaving his mark alright... By little more than lifting his leg...

The Kassian/Hodgson trade is by far Gillis' "boldest move." While the jury is still out, early signs are showing that Vancouver lost that exchange. I understand the circumstances behind that trade, but still...

I said it earlier this season, that it was the Sedins who were responsible for Zack's great start and early success. While Kassian was on the #1 line he was playing over is head, while Burrows wasn't nearly as productive away from the Sedins. Now Burrows is back with Henrik and Daniel, his production has increased, while Kassian has all but disappeared to the point of being a health scratch. Coincidence?... I think not!

Looking at the above, I gotta wonder how much Gillis' poor track record was/is playing into the whole Luongo saga. Does Gillis realize that some, perhaps most, of his moves have either been poor or at best lateral? Seriously, who has Gillis recently brought in to improve Vancouver (and please don't say Garrison ) ?

Gillis' latest blunder... Waiving Volpatti, continuing to let the goalie controversy fester and Gillis needs to move Kesler ASAP, while he still can.

Can Vancouver turn it around? Absolutely, but right now, they are looking vulnerable!

This tells me that you didn't watch many of the games.

Kassian didn't simply sit there and get fed the puck in all of those games—a couple of his goals were from being in the right place, but a couple a direct result of his work. He was also very effective on the cycle.

He got moved off the line because the Sedins were struggling, and Burrows makes them better players by his intelligence, which far exceeds Kassian's.

Kassian also didn't disappear when he left the line—for several games afterwards he was the best player on whatever line he played on. But AV seems to have forgotten that pretty quickly, and never gave him a chance to play with Schroeder and Raymond.

He disappeared when he was demoted to the 4th line, and now he's playing like he's scared of the puck. Must be pretty demoralizing when you know all the hard work was wasted on the coach, and any mistake (even minor ones) pushes you to the fourth line....and the next step is the pressbox....

Good for him. But +/- alone is a pretty meaningless stat. There was no way the Canucks were going to offer him a multi-year deal at the price he got—it's an overpayment, and a risk—the Canucks already have enough injury issues...

I do wish him the best, though.

Yeah. I know you're not a big fan, but Kassian was playing quite well on other lines before AV finally demoted him to the 4th and he disappeared.

Several of his goals were due to his own play, not just cashing in on the Sedin's feeds...

Wrong, I watch plenty of Canucks games. Nucker101 even agreed with everything I said. Does that mean that Nucker101 doesn't watch many Canucks games too?

The Sedins had a rough week or so at the end of January and early February, but just look at Kassian's production time line before that. The Sedins made him better, without them he doesn't have a single goal in February.

Go look at Kassian's stats across the board for all of February, Kassian was terrible: a minus player, 2 blocked shots ON THE SEASON, 23 PIMS and 27 SOG all season. Sorry brother, but these aren't the numbers of a player "who was the best player on whatever line he was on."

Besides, if Kassian stood out that much why has he been dropping form line to line since the end of January, despite Kelser and Booth being injured, to the point of finding his ass in the press box?

Get kesler off the team
Fire AV
Trade one of the two goalies NOW!

Not unless the owners want a sucky team and start rebuilding like the oilers
For all those defending kes here:
Last year he only had 20 goals back from his injury which is 20 goals less from the season before and we won the presidents but didnt even past the first round!
He also had an injury and when he cameback we go 2-6 and then he gets injured AGAIN
I used to love kes but now he is just making the team worse and he is injury prone...
It would be better for both of us to trade him to a team that can give us what we need while kes can probably get a 1st line job in a less must win enviroment.
The goalie situation is a distraction and AV cant coach at all

Stats don't always dictate who the best player was...

His passing was great, his board work was great, he was creating opportunities that his (offensively inept) linemates couldn't cash in on, and he was playing physical.

Until he got demoted to the 4th, he was the best player most nights on whatever line he was playing on...

And Nucker agreed with that when I posted it earlier, so there

All I'm saying, is that if you think it's all about the Sedin's creating these opportunities for the players, you're wrong. Several of Kassians goals were due to his work.

Kassian dropped because AV is an idiot. He was moved off the 1st and onto a line with no other offensive players (except Higgins, who was awful at the time).

He would make a minor mistake 5 minutes into the game and find himself on the 4th line. Now he's playing timid, and scared of the puck. Sometimes young players need patience, not punishment.

edit: and of course the Sedins made him better—they're two of the best setup guys in the league—they make any player better...

MG is an idiot for extending AVs contract...
We are going to have to deal with this (franker) for the rest of his contract cuz MG has a loving relationship with AV

Has it occurred to you that maybe it's because you want Kassian to succeed so badly and become one of the league's elite power forwards that any little thing that Kassian does even remotely well is overly praised, while any short comings are overlooked? Ever heard of rose coloured glasses?

... And all I'm saying is that Kassian (IMO) is not as good most Canucks fans think he is. He was solid early on with the Sedins and without them where is Zack now or better yet, where has been the past month?

He has the physical tools, but his "hockey intelligence" leaves MUCH to be desired.

So let me ask you what is worse, MG losing the Kassian/Hodgson trade OR AV mismanaging the assets that he has to work with?
