RED FLAG. Minutes/opportunity will affect production, but SHOULD NOT have anything to do with effort level. My criticizm of Kassian has always been 100% about this (even though it always gets twisted into an "unfair comparison with Hodgson" argument). Someone needs to teach the kid to play with a chip on his shoulder. He isn't assertive enough... He doesn't "run show". He needs to go out there (whether it's 18 or 8 minutes a night) and act like he owns the ice. - DrChristianTroy
I can't disagree. I would be curious if he is worried about taking a penalty and ending up with even less minutes. If you are only going to get 6 minutes a game, make them memorable. I don't comprehend how he can not get at least 1 hit per shift minimum. If I was coach that would be a requirement for all my players, to try and get at least 1 hit per shift.
Any team that can skate Dale Weise on your top 6 is not going to rack up the W's. I don't care if he has looked better this year than any other year, it is still Dale Weise. It is like putting rose petals on a pile of dog shyte, underneath it is still a pile of shyte. |

Wow some pretty strong words for Brouwer... a guy who would be leading your team in goals with 8! Oh and he also has a Stanley cup ring. - waitforawhistle
Brouwer is exactly the type of player the Canucks desperately need right now. |

I wonder if WSH needs a goalie?
What ever happened to the deal that MG had in place, just waiting on a players return. |

The thing is he does that on a lot of nights and all he gets out of it is less ice-time. That has to be pretty demoralizing for a player when that player knows he's is as good as 1-2 guys who are getting top 6 time.
He was one of Vancouver best forwards in Dallas. He got 15 min. in Detroit and granted didn't play well but neither did anyone else. How does AV respond after one bad outing? by giving him 7 min. in a game that was built for his style of play.
That has to piss off a player to know that there is a huge double standard in that locke room. And IMO, pissed off players gennerally don't play all that well. |

The Hawks miss him every game. The guy is built like a rock and will give you 200 hits a year and twenty goals. I am sure his coaches would like him to stay quiet but frustration is probably setting in. |

And Kessel would have done that last year.

Decent ice time has worked wonders for Kadri in Toronto. Wilson wouldn't play him last year. Now he's given the opportunity to play and he's doing well.
Being in TO, I don't get to see the Canucks play too often, but I haven't really seen anything drastically different from some of the others who are given more time. |

Here is the ice-time for Vancouver's forwards
H. Sedin- 21:35 - Burke
Burrows- 21:44 - Nonis
D. Sedin- 20:06 - Burke
Kesler- 19:07 - Burke
Higgins- 16:49 - Gillis
Hansen- 15:57 - Nonis
Raymond- 15:22 - Nonis
Schroeder- 13:13 - Gillis
Booth- 12:56 - Gillis
Lapierre- 8:46 - Gillis
Kassian- 6:52 - Gillis
Weise- 6:27 - Gills
Gillis has sure put his stamp on this team!
... the team he said was mismanaged prior to his arrival and in desperate need of "bold moves" & better drafting. - DrChristianTroy
Not trolling, just posting an honest opinion that might be tough for some of you to swallow...
Looking at that list is somewhat surprising. Judging by what Gillis has brought in in terms of forwards, it appears that Gillis is leaving his mark alright... By little more than lifting his leg...
The Kassian/Hodgson trade is by far Gillis' "boldest move." While the jury is still out, early signs are showing that Vancouver lost that exchange. I understand the circumstances behind that trade, but still...
I said it earlier this season, that it was the Sedins who were responsible for Zack's great start and early success. While Kassian was on the #1 line he was playing over is head, while Burrows wasn't nearly as productive away from the Sedins. Now Burrows is back with Henrik and Daniel, his production has increased, while Kassian has all but disappeared to the point of being a health scratch. Coincidence?... I think not!
Looking at the above, I gotta wonder how much Gillis' poor track record was/is playing into the whole Luongo saga. Does Gillis realize that some, perhaps most, of his moves have either been poor or at best lateral? Seriously, who has Gillis recently brought in to improve Vancouver (and please don't say Garrison ) ?
Gillis' latest blunder... Waiving Volpatti, continuing to let the goalie controversy fester and Gillis needs to move Kesler ASAP, while he still can.
Can Vancouver turn it around? Absolutely, but right now, they are looking vulnerable!

The only real blunder I see is sticking with a coach who won't play the players you brought in to make the team better. |

Same. She has learned the amount of time arguing with me to do something is longer than the amount of time it would take to 'convince me'. That's called taking one for the team. |

Well if Kassian thinks the way to earn back the minutes he isn't getting is to float around, throw no hits & pick/choose when he wants to look interested, good luck to him. AV is butchering his development, but Kassian isn't handling it any better. |

This team is fukked. Volpattis gone, Keslers got a broken Foot. Malholtras out for the year. And we have two goalies which the GM doesnt want to trade.
WTF is going on here. My opinion of the Canucks management is teetering on disasterous. |

Yeah, they're really missing him this year....(frank) off.... Wouldn't be fair to the rest of the teams in the west if they were stacked like back in 2010. |

Hmmm... Great point.
Do the players still respond to AV, the way they should?
At the same time, Gillis' hands are tied. How the (frank) do you fire a back-to-back President's Trophy winning coach that recently took you to the finals? |

I would take either of them. Kessel would be sick on a second line. Brouwer would be a so-so fit right now with our current mix of players but his grit and goal scoring ability is a good combo. |

I think both are to blame, and would be nice to see some accountability for either of their actions. |
