... the team he said was mismanaged prior to his arrival and in desperate need of "bold moves" & better drafting. |

If Kassian played on the first line with quality players like Vanek and Pominvile like Hodgson. His points weren't far off.... His 5 goals came in something like the first 7 games when he was, playing on the top line. Also Hitting and Fighting are 2 things Hodgson doesn't do that he does that you are not referencing. He is also 1 year behind in development.
Besides all those points... Yes Cody is having a good season for a bad team. Didn't Matt Frickkken Stajan put up numbers on a top line on a bad team as well????? lol - SMP8719
I get your point, but Hodgson is a really good player already. Comparing him to Stajan is a joke |

I was just saying that to compare the players points... you have to factor where they play.... any player on a top line should be getting more points then someone on a 4th line. And yes I know Hodgson is better then Stajan..... But even he could put up points if put on the top line with PP time. He scored 55 pts in 76 games in Toronto. |

sure looks like AV and Gillis are on the same page.
AV- we need bigger players that won't get pushed around Mike.
MG- If I get you some will you play them?
AV- not likely.
MG- here's another new contract AV.
AV- Thanks Mike. Now I can carry on ignoring how you want this team to play. |

It's BS. He was one of the better players the first couple weeks, then all it took was one minor mistake for him to get demoted to the 4th line.
Now he's playing scared, like the puck is a grenade, since one more mistake means the press box.
AV is totally ruining this player. It's a bloody crime... - Fosco

Can't belive I am agreeing with you but I am. Gillis traded for Kassian to make the Canucks tougher to play against especially after the Bruins pushed the Canucks around in the Final. Hell...the Bruins push everybody around. I think it was a good trade for both teams. Cody gives Buufalo scoring and Kassian does what he does best. Bang and Create chnaces. I agree with you that demoting him after a couple of bad plays was a mistake. He's a kid and needs confidence. I think if AV is patient with him he will suceed in a big way.The troble with AV is that he is old school. Screw up and be benched. |

Kassian will be a top 6 guy for most of his career, just like Hodgson. Trade worked for both teams. Hodgson has actually been surprisingly good lately. His skating has improved a lot. |

Couldn't have said it better. If Kesler is out how do you do the lines now?
Advice
If I have Kassian in one of my yahoo leagues, do i cut bait and walk away, or do i keep holding out hoping he will get some top 6 minutes again. Not sure if Kesler injury will get him more ice time or will AV still keep him in doghouse. |

Lets be serious here...Hodgson was and still is the better player, but Vancouver simply didn't like him as a player or had a conflict with his personality. I was praying Toronto traded for Hodgson ever since he was having some problems with the Vancouver medical staff and his back. I don't mind Kassian, but his ceiling is nowhere near Hodgsons, but he does have some upside as a different type of player. |

There is nothing wrong with benching young players so they can learn from their mistakes. But you have to be willing to go back with them after a game or two.
AV just doesn't seem to get that.
-Son, you're grounded.
- ok dad I'll never do that again.
- Dad can I come out of my room?
- No!
- But I'm 35 dad. F*ck you I'm getting a place off my own. |

Ebbett in?
All joking a side, Kassian needs to be given another chance to play 14-16 minutes or you're to see f*ck all from him effort wise the rest of the year.
Why try when you know there is no ice-time there?
Then you'll start hearing the "I want out rumours"
and in two years we'll be where Calgary is. |

The annoying part is I thought they should have waited until the offseason to trade Coho, I don't think they would have gotten less for him. I also think if other teams knew he was available you could have started a REAL bidding war (not like the Luo one) and gotten more in return, even if an extra draft pick. |

It annoys me to no end the coaching style AV has. Ballard used to complain he would never get told during a game what he is doing wrong by the staff.
I would like the team to go on a dive for a few games and force MG to make some changes, Hopefully AV and co. |

RED FLAG. Minutes/opportunity will affect production, but SHOULD NOT have anything to do with effort level. My criticizm of Kassian has always been 100% about this (even though it always gets twisted into an "unfair comparison with Hodgson" argument). Someone needs to teach the kid to play with a chip on his shoulder. He isn't assertive enough... He doesn't "run show". He needs to go out there (whether it's 18 or 8 minutes a night) and act like he owns the ice. |

I disagree with you on playing Lapierrie and Weise more in that game, together they are responsible for 2 goals against. But I do agree that the team as a collective need to be tougher, there is no hitting at all. There is no passion, no desire to be a tough team to play against, no pride, nothing, nada, ziltch.
This team seems to me like they're playing to get their coach fired...dare to dream. |

Wow some pretty strong words for Brouwer... a guy who would be leading your team in goals with 8! Oh and he also has a Stanley cup ring. |
