Coming in out of shape and not doing what the team asked him to do during the offseason makes it more of an 80/20 Myers fault. Danny Gare even came out and said he's out of shape and taking short shifts because of it. Was the team partially responsible? yes but Myers needs to take sole responsibility.

poop. He needs to get on the Danny Gare Plan! More Blow!

I honestly think the only way he gets to the level he was in the playoffs 2 years ago is by overplaying him. Let him make mistakes but put him out there on every PK and PP you can, If he is your highest paid defenseman, he should be on the 1st unit on both. I have a feeling Rolston is going to get a lot out of him. Adam needs to be brought up and told that they are gonna showcase him and either trade him or find a place for him on the Sabres, tell him that if he doesn't work hard he will be buried in Roch until they choose not to resign him, see if he wakes up. He has some talent
- sbroads24

As much as I like Gerbe's heart, he's a 4th liner at best...
So let's strt trying some guys w talent on the wing w Grigorenko...
Flynn should prob get first shot, but I'm alright w Adam getting another chance too... Hopefully we get Armia over here soon too and maybe he gets a shot?
We certainly gotta start trying something,
Bc benching Grigorenko or plaing him w Hecht, Gerbe, Scott, etc... Well, it simply isn't working

Why do people all of a sudden want to immediately tank the rest of the season? If Ruff was really the problem (which many believe) then wouldn't you want to see how this team can perform without him? The team is 4 points out a playoff spot.
- BuffSabs88

Because this team is going nowhere even if it makes the playoffs. A top 5 pick would be fantastic to add to the handful of good players we do have. Not a full rebuild.....rebuild on the fly so to speak.

Because we are 6-10-1 and not a contender. This has been our problem for too long, we are mediocre, not good enough to win a cup, not bad enough to get Steven Stamkos. There has to be a point where you realize what you are and go 100% towards fixing it, not pretending your something your not and half assing deadline deals and over paying for Ville Leino. Get your Stamkos, find out what your prospects can do, have a plan to become a team everyone doesn't want to play

Vanek/Cody/Pomer
Foligno/Ennis/Grigs
Ott/Porter/Stafford
Gerbe/Hecht/Kaleta.

Is how I'd start them tomorrow night, then go from there.

One top pick isn't going to all of a sudden change this team around, though. I would love to have Jones, Mackinnon, or Drouin on this team but I'd still like to see if this team can compete this year.

And don't just assume that this team goes nowhere even if they make the playoffs. Think about the team last year and how much damage they could have done in the post-season if they kept playing in the playoffs like they did for the rest 15 games or so of the regular season.

95-96 through Hasek leaving and 05-07.

Of course that 92-93 team had to be a female dog to play against.

It's not just the 1 pick though. It's the acceptance part of the whole situation. Being last and picking first gets you in the mindset to build for the future, but with a #1 overall pick instead of 10-20. Instead you have guys like Hecht, and Leopold on the team instead of Mcnabb and say Flynn. Look at this teams records dating back 3 seasons, they are moving backwards not forwards

You made it about race, did I use the "n" word or the continent name in front of it? No I didn't. You assume. Don't assume.

I was a bill collector for 9 years and I can tell you there are more white people who classify as the "n" word than anyone else I talk to.

Thank you was too lazy to respond...my point change the team, culture, etc. Add a top end talent to Vanek, Pommer, Miller, Hodgson, Foligno, Ehrhoff, Myers, etc. Or move some. Either way we have good players, add a top end talent, trim the dead weight and get this stale thing moving in the right direction. Tired of running in the middle of the pack. Making the playoffs to get spanked in the first round does nothing for me.

While it would be nice to get the top pick, that mentality is setting Rolston up for failure. It organizationally they wanted to tank, Patrick should've taken over and Rolston brought in to start fresh next year. Unless they never plan on removing the interim tag from Rolston and plan on hiring someone else after the season.

depending on how we finish this season, this will be the most interesting offseason the sabres have had in a long while.
