Honestly, it's not as if he tore up in Hartford during the lockout. There is something not right about Kreider this year, and hopefully he can recover from what is shaping up to be a subpar first complete season in the pros.

I'm not worried about him putting up points down in Hartford. But him being up here and him being scratched game in and game out in will wear on him. He's human, it's gonna affect him.

It's not a good situation for Krieder, a young player with no confidence sitting in the press box is the worse thing an organization can do.

You can say that it would be worthless to play him on the 4th line and give him 5 minutes, but isn't playing 5 minutes better than sitting in the press box? Just let him play, maybe give him a few minutes on the PP.

That's why I want them to send him down and keep him down their. Let him play as much as possible.

No, playing him on the 4th line, serves no purpose. The kid is a goal scorer, needs the puck in goal scoring situations. He's received one great pass from Richards in the Devils game and took a shot that Marty is still looking for.

Sure, but that goal was a flash of brilliance, in and otherwise pretty bad season. Hell, even Erik Christensen used to have the occassional snipe where you wowed, but the shot, but that ain't going to get it done. As to whether he serves any purpose on the fourth line, if the fourth line is getting 7-8 minutes or so, and he plays relatively well, you have the option to move him up the lineup. And, at least he is playing, whereas I am not sure how much, if any, benefit he gets from sitting upstairs.

I've never been a big believe in the learning by watching from the press box stuff. Just seems like a thing coaches say to make a player feel better.

Mashinter/Asham are the logicals, neiher was here last season so its not a former mate...I would be surprised if he goes with someone he actually played with, in fact who would be even logical?? Boyle?? Not...roomies in fact...but he will stir the pot...

You're right, I just hate to see the kid get lost in the shuffle.

The Rangers under Torts have been good about bringing these young guys along...I think he can lear what he has to learn up here, I think he will play more...he hasn't had a full training camp with the club yet, he has started his career in the midst of playoff run and after a lockout...so far this administration has given us no reason to doubt how they develop young talent and its so early in his career...and think about the leadership thats on the ice with him everyday...Lets not make him a head case just yet...

I think he should be playing. Lines are always shuffled for a shift or two after a penalty. I think this is where Krieder needs to be out there with Richards and really start to find his game. He can find minutes still playing on the fourth line like this. Lets say he plays 5 minutes with the fourth line but is used after every penalty that is called. That could be another 8 to 10 minutes. There is a place for him in the line up if torts decides to use him.

I don't think they are handling Kreider well right now. They send him to Hartford to play in three weekend games. Then they call him back-up when there are questions about Nash. Then when Powe gets hurt they call up Mash, and sit Kreider. They are screwing with this kid too much, and I hope its don't killing him psychologically.

That being said, Kreider needs to play better. When a player that has that type of speed, and goes through long stretches of invisibility on the ice, that is a problem. Hagelin should be the model for Kreider. Even when he isn't scoring, he still uses his speed to do other things on the ice. I don't want to see him turn into Erik Christensen -- i.e. a game or two when he shows serious skills, surrounded by too many games when you don't notice him.

I agree with you Pete. This is a 21 year old kid just out of college, and he doesn't know where he is sleeping every night. Yea you can say he is being paid as a pro, but stuff like that can frank with people. He has no security where he will be each day.
