Who I'd consider franchise D men:
Pietrangelo, OEL, Karlsson, Chara, Weber, Keith, Doughty.

Future possibles: Dougie Hamilton, Seth Jones, Justin Faulk(he's that good), Ryan Murray, McDonagh, Hedman, Fowler, and I pray to God almighty Justin Schultz (homerism and unlikely)

- TheNugeIsHuge

Hedman belongs up Pietrangelo, OEL, Faulk and Karlsson. The others you mention are rooks, guys who haven't played yet or haven't even been drafted.

Chara, Weber, Doughty and (I guess) Keith are already established as hell.

that was at age 20. He's got 8P in 15GP so far. I'll bet you he'll put up 40 before 24.

Definitely a reasonable prediction. But until he does it, he's not a franchise D.

Fowler, Schultz and McD are 2 one dimensional to be franchise. I like Faulk but lets not get carried away
- Bieksa#3

again that's possible Come on. One dimensional? Who just won the Norris? Karlsson has one really good dimension. McD will be a Norris candidate in the near future.

also Seth Jones is going #1 overall. Fair to say you'd probably be hoping/expecting him to turn into a franchise D man

1st off Karlson is a generational offensive d. To expect others to put up his numbers is just plain dumb. And he is far better on D then most give him credit for. He just isn't physical.

Do you have a crystal ball

Just saying....you can claim all of these things will happen all you want, but until they happen they're just predictions...can't really base an argument on predictions...

Kevin Shattenkirk might end up being the best player in that trade, who woulda thought. And Avs fans were saying that he was expandable because they already had enough offensive d-men and now that's one of their biggest needs.

Tough break.

Schneider was being drafted way too early, he went in the top 20 in both of my pools. There was always a good chance the Luongo would stay in Vancouver for the start of the season and it was pretty obvious that he wasn't going to be typical scrub backup goalie. Both guys will finish the season with solid numbers, but you won't get the amount of wins that the other top goalies will.

- Nucker101

Agree. I picked my goalies last in a 10 team pool. Ended up with Schneider Lu and Price. I thought Lu would be traded by now....

I don't know. Johnson is still good. Not saying Shattenkirk isn't better. Both are #2 d. Avalanche got Seimens and lost Stewart as well. Trade is close value wise

True, but I'd say the Blues won. I bet if you ask both teams, the Blues wouldn't reverse that deal but the Avs probably would.

Edit: The Twins getting it going.

I wonder how Adam Larsson will end up developing, he's been with NJ as a 6/7 d-man, I'd rather have him playing 25 mins in the AHL if I were the Devils.
